PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
It’s Fall Y’all!
Oh my, my, this year will be over in a blink of an eye. October is my favorite month - so many festivals and craft shows, changing of the leaves and cooler (?) temperatures.
We had a great turn out for our September General Meeting. I know there was a lot to cover and much going on with activities, so-cial and day trip sign up. I hope you had a chance to visit all the committee tables; if not you have another chance this month. Re-minder to bring your checkbook to this month’s meeting as Heavenly Holiday Soiree luncheon and theater ticket sales will start.
Speaking of charities, Sleep in Heavenly Peace is hosting a FAN build day October 12 (see Charity article in FANfare). They also accept NEW twin bedding suitable for chil-dren. No previous building skills required so let’s have fun with this!
Another great program awaits you on Octo-ber 1. Hey Lin Fish, can we have some pumpkin spice creamer for our coffee this month????

FAN meets on the first Tuesday of each month

Social Hour begins at 9:30 a.m.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace
Thanks to those who volunteered to participate in the Sleep In Heavenly Peace build on Octo-ber 12, 2019. A reminder: Be sure to register on Sign Up Genius. as well as registering on SHP's national site for insurance purposes. Reg-istration directions for these sites are on the sheet you received at the meeting last month
It is not too late to join this experience of cre-ating beds for children who do not have a bed, There is room for more volunteers and you can sign up at the October General Meeting

TREASURER’S
REPORT
Lots of fun was had by all at the Septem-
ber General Membership Meeting …
banjos, singing, approved our budget,
and we had the largest 50/50 Raffle in
recent memory … $300 in total.
That means FAN benefited to the tune
of $150 and Char Marks and Jody
Coryell each got $75!! Jody is a new
member and it was her first meeting …
way to go Jody!
Plan to get your tickets next month …

LINE DANCING
First, I want to say “Thank You” to Fratellini’s Italian
Ristorante on Louetta Road for allowing us to use their
meeting room for our first class. The owners were very
kind and helpful.
I’m happy to announce that we had a very productive first
meeting of our Line Dance group on Friday, September 13
with 12 members attending.
FYI: No one passed out and no one tripped or fell.
YEAH!!!
I saw many talented ladies working hard and putting their
fears behind them. We learned many new steps and even
learned THREE new dances.
They did a great job!

CHANGES COMING:
LOCATION: will be changing to the Barbara
Bush Library on Cypresswood Dr. We’ll be using
the Robin Bush room, which will give us more
useable space.
TIME: I had to work with their calendar, so our
new dancing time will change to 10:00 – 12:00.
DAY: Will remain the same; 2nd & 4th Fridays
each month.
CHRISTMAS COOKIE EXCHANGE
Start pulling out your cookbooks for holiday cookie recipes! It will be that time again soon for the annual Cookie Exchange. This year’s date is Wednesday, December 11, 2019, at 11:30 a.m. at the Spring Creek Oaks Clubhouse 2. Check out the sign-up table at the Octo-ber General Meeting for further details. Hope to see you there!

HOLIDAY CHARITY LUNCHEON
Raveneaux Country Club is where our Holiday Charity Luncheon will be held on Decem-ber 3 from 11 a.m. till 2 p.m. Our charity this year is Sleep in Heavenly Peace. They make and donate beds for children without a bed to sleep in. As many of you know, Chef Paul Freidman was recently brought out of retirement to join Raveneaux as their new Chef. He has many years of experience and accolades to match! We have heard great things from those who have dined there since his arrival. They also are redecorating the club and we will be their first event. They are doing our holiday decorations in light blue, silver and gold. Some of the enhancements to our event are a Valet Service, a pianist and your choice of your entrée. You will be able to choose between a vegetarian dish, chicken, beef or salmon, different dessert and, of course, tea or coffee. An invitation will go out later to make your choices from the full menu and that's when you will sign-up and pay by check. We had a tasting recently and it was amazing! As we have done in the past few years, you will be able to reserve your tables of eight and sit with your friends. So start getting your tables together, get your check books out and plan to sign-up at either the October 1 or November 5 General Meeting. You will be pleasantly surprised to see all of the wonderful changes the club is making. We also are making some changes in our Silent Auction. Those of you who volunteered to help will receive emails or calls very soon. I am very honored to be serving FAN as Chair of this year's celebration and look for-ward to working with the team. New Directories Available at the October Meeting
Have you seen the new Directories? They are beautiful!!
The new 2019-2020 FAN Directory will be available at General Meetings in October and November to all members with dues paid. Look for the Directory Distribution table and pick up your Directory.
Should your name not be listed as a paid member, you will be asked to pay your dues to obtain a new Di-rectory. Please keep in mind that a friend or Activity Group Leader may pick up your Directory if you can-not attend the General Meeting. She will sign to verify that she has your Directory.

Day Trip to Galveston
Wednesday, October 30
REMINDER: Galveston on Wednesday,
October 30. We will be touring Legends
of the Gulf Coast Pirates Museum and
driving to see the famous Tree Sculp-
tures. Lunch will be at Coastal Grill.
Cost is $9.00 per person, plus your
lunch.

Cypress Road and Champion Forest

ORIGINAL LUNCH BUNCH
Members of Original Lunch Bunch will meet Wednesday, October 16 at noon at Mary Ann Lucas’ home. Juliet Wang is co-host. (This group is closed due to size. When there is an opening, a notice will be in the newsletter.) As usual bring a non-desert dish to share. RSVP to Mary Ann not later than Monday, October 14. Hope to see you there.

Bylaws Committee Update
Your Bylaws Committee is working hard to
propose some revisions to our current By-laws. We expect to have a draft ready for
your review soon. The changes are only to correct some inaccurate information (such as the meetings are on the second Tuesday)
and to clarify some questionable issues. If you have any suggestions or recommenda-
tions, please let one of the Committee mem-bers know. The Committee members are: Jennifer Banks, Linda Comeaux, Kathy
Court, Sherry Dunn and Lin Fish.

We now have 231 members. Our Board has set a goal of growing the member-ship to 260 this year, so please continue to tell your friends about FAN and invite them to our next General Meeting on October 1.

Antiquers and Junkers
Do you enjoy shopping, making
new friends, or just having a fun
day out? Then come try Antiquers
and Junkers. Everyone is welcome.
This group meets on the third Wednesday of each
month at different hostesses’ homes for coffee.
Then it’s on to a fun-filled day of antiquing, eating
and shopping.
We travel in carpools. Each person is responsible
for the cost of her lunch and $5 to her driver.
This month we are meeting at Charla Hannibal’s
home in Candlelight Hills subdivision on Wednes-
day, October 16 at 9:00 a.m. From there we will
carpool to The Woodlands and Conroe and have
lunch at McKenzie’s Barbeque and Burgers.
Please let me know by noon Monday, October 14
if you are coming. Everyone who is coming will
be sent an email Monday evening so you can ar-
range your carpools.
