Week 15!

Welcome Back! I hope everyone

had a wonderful Thanksgiving and

got to spend time with family and

friends.

We will continue this week to learn

our song for the Christmas Eve Ser-

vice, please also go over this at

home as well.

I pray you all had a happy and healthy Thanksgiving! As we start the month of December, much of our focus will be on the Christmas program. Please con-tinue to work on the memory work with your child as well as the other songs in the packet. As we move forward with our Superkids units, I will be sending home library books for you and your child to read. These are meant to be books that your child can read to you. They are short and should be returned to school the following day. Please take the time to encourage your child to read! This will be the first step to incorporating homework into our classroom. Continue to read the newsletter, as upcoming events and important reminders will be in there! Blessings on week 15,

Miss Myers

I hope you enjoyed a relaxing

and peaceful Thanksgiving cele-

bration. God has blessed us with

so much! May his love encourage

us to share his word and bless-

ings with others.

Spelling test number 6 is Thurs-

day. Be sure your child is prac-

ticing these words, both memory

and pattern words, each and eve-

ry night.

Today was the last day to earn

points for AR. The students

have been working toward their

1 point, but more need to reach

that goal. Spend time every

evening reading with your child

and him to you. This is how your

child gets better. I do expect all

students to reach their goal, if

not exceed it. Enjoy the quiet

time with your child!

Remember your child’s outdoor

clothing. Who knows when the

next snowfall will arrive, but be

prepared.

Continue with the Christmas rec-

itation practice at home. We are

working on it diligently here at

school. If your child cannot be

present for the Christmas Eve

service on the 24th, please

make a note of that on the

church form in the back of the

home folder. This will help as I

begin to make a seating chart

for the service. Thanks.

Have a blessed week in our

Lord, Jesus Christ.

Ms Moran- 5th & 6th homeroom, 7th & 8th ELA

I pray that everyone had a blessed Thanksgiving spending time with family and friends. What a joy it is to be thankful every day for the numerous blessings our Lord showers upon us. The classroom seems to have found a comfortable temperature, but it is always a good idea to have a sweatshirt here in case your child gets cold during the day. Remember though that we are certainly cooler by the lake these days for recess attire.

Memory work will be Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday this week, but that may change for the weeks following leading up to Christmas so please watch the news next week to see if we need the extra days. Thank you! Book orders were sent home today. They will be due back by next Tuesday in order to have the books arrive by Christmas. If you would like to order something as a surprise, please feel free to let me know and I will be more than happy to assist you.

A link for the next set of Spelling words was sent to you yesterday. If you aren't able to access the words, please let me know. Spelling Test on List 13- Friday Memory Work- Tues. "Yea Lord we..." Wed. Joy to the World vs. 1 Fri. Joy to the World vs. 2 Have a great first week of Dec.!

Welcome back! I hope you had a re-laxing and enjoyable Thanksgiving! Christlight God defends the Israelites through the Passover and crossing the Red Sea. Ask your schol-ar about William Bradford, Squanto, Tommy, Freedom, and Liberty!

Also, we are starting a new class novel. It is a version of a famous Christmas tale which includes ghosts, time travel, and one grumpy old man. (Don't give it away to your young scholars!!) 5th Math We will continue using Khan Acade-my as homework for this week. A minimum of 15 minutes a day is required! 5th Social Studies We will be studying the 13 colonies before moving on to the American Revolution later this month.

8th and 7th ELA We will start our unit on Inquiry and Exploration through writing. Spelling is VCV pattern and the test will be on Friday. Art I'm sorry, parents, but I cannot tell you about our art project for this week. It's a Christmas present for the family, and that's all I can say!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanks-giving! Now we begin the very special Ad-vent season, preparing ourselves for Christmas! We are in week 15 of the school year. Memory work will focus on parts of the children’s Christmas Eve ser-vice, which is on December 24th, at 4:00pm. Please give extra attention to helping with all the wonderful songs and Bible passages your child is learning so they can share the joy that evening!

The second graders will be singing at the BEGINNING OF BOTH church services (8:00am and 10:30am), December 6th.

They are singing a short Advent candle song. They will sing at the very beginning

of the service, while the Advent candle is being lit. Your child should come and sit in the very front pew, by the piano, before church begins. They should know where you are sitting, because they will go to sit with you, when they are finished singing. We will be going on TWO field trips next week! The first one is on Tuesday, December 8th. This will be to the Golden Rondelle Theater in Racine, for a science presentation on “Close Encounters of the Chemical Kind..”

We will travel by school bus there and back. There is no cost for this trip. Permission slips must be returned by Friday, December 4th. The second field

trip will be on Friday, December 11th from 9:00am till 11:00am, at Green Acres in Kenosha, to make a large Christmas wreath for the school. This field trip will cost $3.50 per child. Drivers and chaperones will be needed for this trip. Chaperones do not need to pay for this trip. Permission slips and mon-ey must be returned by Monday, December 7th.

Please make sure to return the envelope with your donation for the new library books, for our Christmas gift program.

See class note for memory work !!!

Last Week:

• 8th Grade:

Last week,

the eighth

grade talked

about the four

main types of

matter as well

as the molecular motion

involved with these states.

We also spent a little time

exploring semisolids. We

dissected a clean diaper to

collect the polymer that absorbs

liquid which when activated

results in a semisolid substance.

We also made and ate the

semisolid jello.

• 7th Grade & 6th Grade: The 7th

& 6th grade classes reviewed the

bones of the skeletal system with

a quiz. They also learned about

the six types of joints in the body

and how those joints are

categorized by the amount of

movement they allow.

5th Grade: Last week, the fifth

grade met just once for science

to allow them time to finish their

unit in Social Studies. However,

during that day we talked about

species abundance and the

importance of species diversity

Math 3: We will be re-viewing line segments, and missing digits. We will also starting the fun of multiplication! There will be a test on Friday. Music 7: We will be intro-ducing "The Nutcracker Ballet". Those who would like to continue
