Our precious new family members.

This is the largest amount of children we have ever taken in at one time, afact that makes it challenging for us logistically but even more exciting and .blessed.When hearing the stories of these children our hearts break - absued, deserted, mistreated. No one should have to experience in a life time whatthese little ones have experienced in just a few short years. We are humbled that God chose us to care for and love them.

We need to buy bed, re-furnish and re-fit our dorms so that we canprovide our new kids with a safe and secure environment. The immediate need is for 3000 dollars to re-do our dorms to makeroom for them.

We need 10 dollars per child to help buy them Christmas gift and 10dollars per child in our home (we now have 89) to give them a Christmas party. This is a special time of year and we want to make itextra special for our new and enlarged (and improved!) family!

Please consider helping us to meet these needs so we can be the hand of God outstretched to these the least in human eyes but the greatest in the kingdom ofGod. You can donate through our donations page on our site or by check - please visit www.fridsro.org for more details and click on the "donate now" button.

We are excited to be working with the Child Protection Services of Sri Lanka to launch a new program that is based on the CommunityRehabilitation Project (CBR) Model that has been so successful and reached over 1 million people with disabilities in Sri Lanka, dependanton a workforce of over 14,000 volunteers among others.

In the initial phase of this program we will use the same model of involving the community to reach and help 50 families who are in danger of having their children institutionalized as a result of extreme poverty. Although we love and enjoy all of the kids staying with us, we recognize that removing these kids from their home environment is not the ideal solution. Instead, this program will help parents andguardians with practical resources and advice so that they will be able to change their circumstances through sustainable methodsand thus care for their children. The project will help with training, business ideas and implementation for these families so that they will not have to be separated from their children while involving the community and making the community in which they live partners in this endeavor.

We are very excited at the launch of this project since we strongly believe that this model will be the future of sustainable, practical and interactive aid instead of the more passive model.

It also helps us use all the knowledge and insight that we have received and learnt from the CBR project and translate it into yet another area - together we are not only changing lives but societal systems and practical aid structures.
