Continuing from previous Friday Sermon, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih V (aa) narrated about the life

of Hazrat Sad bin Muaz (ra). He stated:

Narrating about Hazrat Sad bin Muaz (ra), Hazrat Musleh Maud (ra) states that when a person

loves any individual, he desires that his beloved is not met with any harm or injury. Similar was the

case with the companions of the Holy Prophet (sa) who disliked that the Holy Prophet (sa) should

fight himself in any battle. This was the result of their love for him. When the Holy Prophet (sa)

sought their advice before the battle of Badr, the companions stood up one by one making

passionate speeches that they were ready for every sacrifice. However, the Holy Prophet (sa) kept

on asking more people to speak.

The reason for this was that all speeches so far had been given by the Muhajireen (migrant)

companions. Hazrat Sad (ra) recognized the intent of the Prophet (sa). He stood up and said that

O Prophet of Allah, we were quiet because we did not want the Muhajireen to think that we are

eager to fight their tribe. We have recognized your truthfulness with our eyes. Therefore, we will

follow you wherever you go. By Allah, even if you command us to throw ourselves into the ocean,

we would gladly do so and the enemy cannot reach you without trembling upon our dead bodies.

A companion of the Holy Prophet (sa) says that I was alongside the Holy Prophet (sa) in 13 battles.

However, instead of all that, I prefer that I had said the words of loyalty and commitment that

were uttered by Hazrat Sad (ra) before the battle of Badr.

Hazrat Musleh Maud says that Allah says in the Quran about protection of the Holy Prophet (sa):

بینیدیم له ن بتم ونه ومنخلفهعق منامرہللاه یحفظ For him (the Messenger) is a succession of angels before him and behind him; they guard him

by the command of Allah. (13:12)

Hazrat Musleh Maud (ra) states that in my opinion, this refers to both the angels of God and the

companions of the Holy Prophet (sa) who safeguarded him.

Following the battle of Uhud, Hazrat Sad (ra) entered Medina walking in front of the horse upon

which the Holy Prophet (sa) was riding. His brother had been martyred in the battle. He saw his

old mother approaching him. She had very weak eyesight due to old age. He informed the Holy

Prophet (sa) about his mother. The Holy Prophet (sa) told him to stop for his mother. The false

rumor of martyrdom of the Holy Prophet (sa) had spread in Medina. His mother readily asked that

where was the Holy Prophet (sa)? Hazrat Sad (ra) replied that he is in front of you. She turned her

face towards the Holy Prophet (sa). The Holy Prophet (sa) offered his sympathies as her son had

been martyred. She replied that O Prophet of Allah, why are you saying this? I was only worried

about your well-being. Narrating this, Hazrat Musleh Maud (ra) says: “O Ansaar, may my life be

sacrificed for you. You have earned great divine rewarded.”

Mentioning this incident of the mother of Hazrat Sad (ra), Hazrat Musleh Maud (ra) advised

Ahmadi women that these are those women who stood alongside men in spreading the message

of Islam and whose sacrifices are remembered to this day. You also claim to have believed in the

Promised Messiah (as) who is a spiritual reflection of the Holy Prophet (sa). Do you possess the

same light and passion as those women who were the companions of the Prophet (sa)? If you

ponder over your conditions, you will realize that you are still far below their standards … He then

says that the Christian world is proud of Hazrat Maryam and fellow women for secretly reaching

the room where Prophet Jesus (as) recovered following the crucifixion. However, I tell them that

if they were to compare them with the women companions of the Holy Prophet (sa), they will find

them far ahead in sacrifice and passion.

Hazrat Sad (ra) also showed his loyalty and love during the incident of Ifk. This was when false

charges were made against Hazrat Aisha and false rumors were purposefully spread in Medina.

Once, the Holy Prophet (sa) gathered his companions and said that who will save me from this

person? He was referring to Abdullah bin Ubay Salool who was the main culprit behind this move.

At this time, Hazrat Sad (ra) said that if he is one of us (Aus tribe), we are ready to execute him and

we are also willing to do so if he is from the Khazraj tribe.

Hazoor Anwar (aa) said that I will continue to narrate about Hazrat Sad (ra) in the next sermon.
