Barrington’s has distinguished itself as having the finest selection of furs, shear-lings, cloth coats, leathers and rainwear in Ontario.

Owner Paul Barrington says that if you wwant a good quality coat, they’ve got it, or it can be custom made. Now in its 60th yyear, the family-run business specializes in “high-end outerwear”. In anticipation of the milestone anniversary, special buying trips to Milan and Paris further enhanced the exclusive inventory that features designer collections and Barrington’s own private label for customized designs.

Barrington’s opened as a fur salon back in 1951 at its first of four different locations in Oakville. The family has been involved in the fur business for six generations, with Paul graduating from a prestigious appren-ticeship program in Vienna, Austria.

Unlike most retailers, Barrington’s pro-vvides a range of services including fur cleaning, storage and restyling, which offers clients a chance to give their furs a fashion update for less than half the price of a new fur. The services are offered on site, giving customers a chance to check out the vast selection of outerwear and

accessories featured in the up-scale retail space when making their seasonal visits.

That space has expanded over the years with each relocation, and more recently with the renovation of the historic Lakeshore Road location five years ago. The redesign helped to accommodate a grow-ing handbag selection that boasts names like Michael Kors, Cole Haan, Andrew Marc and Oakville’s own Karen Wilson. Barrington’s is the only store in the prov-ince, outside of Toronto that carries Longchamp and its little Le Pliage bag.

Barrington’s gathers scarves from around the world to add a flourish to out-erwear. Hundreds of pairs of gloves are sold every year, an indication that discerning shoppers know where to find the perfect match.

Many things have changed at Barrington's but their commitment to high quality and excellent customer service has continued for 60 years. As an anniversary gift to cus-tomers, Barrington’s is holding a raffle for a reversible sheared mink three-quarter coat valued at $6000. Any purchase at the store is an opportunity to enter until November 19.
