This exhibition features Kandis Vermeer Phillips’ illuminated letters, which are intertwined with plants, mammals and insects.

Connan Room, Cohon University Center

Professor Po-Shen Loh, national coach of USA International Math Olympiad leads a discussion of innovation that came out of math teams from Carnegie Mellon University and the USA Math Olympiad, related to Carnegie Mellon University’s spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship. A reception for Mellon College of Science families will follow the lecture in Danforth Lounge, Cohon University Center.

McConomy Auditorium, Cohon University Center

Join Dr. Anthony DiGioia III, M.D. for a lecture titled "Vision, Passion and Teamwork: Transforming Healthcare the CMU Way." Tony is an engineer, entrepreneur and practicing orthopaedic surgeon. He is the founder and medical director of the UPMC Bone and Joint Center and the UPMC Innovation Center. Tony earned his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and a master’s degree in civil and biomedical engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, then attended Harvard Medical School. He completed his orthopaedic residency in Pittsburgh and a fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital. This lecture is co-sponsored by the University Lecture Series, which provides forums for members of the Carnegie Mellon community to learn, debate and engage across disciplinary boundaries.
