Janet De Senzo is a NJ certified teacher with a B.A.
in Education and Psychology, and an M.Ed. special-
izing in Language Arts. She’s worked with students
of varying abilities, both in special and regular edu-
cation classrooms as well as in the higher education
setting.Before starting her career in assistive technol-
ogy, Janet spent six years as the Coordinator of Disa-
bilities Services at William Paterson University,
where she utilized a variety of A.T. programs to meet
the needs of her students.
Since 2004, Janet has traveled throughout the state
conducting educational technology workshops and
consulting directly with school districts as president
of JanTech Educational Services. In addition to
teaching graduate and undergraduate courses, she is
currently a technology coach for the Vernon Town-
ship School District assisting teachers with technolo-
gy integration. She works closely with the special
services department there, runs a successful iPad pro-
gram and helps students reach their full potential
through the use of assistive technology.
Janet’s passion is finding ways to spark a lifetime
love of learning using all varieties of technology in
untraditional ways. She enjoys showing educators
how tech can make lives easier, encouraging them to
experiment with new instructional methods. Seldom
seen without her iPad, Janet is always ready to share
and learn what’s happening today in 21st Century
classrooms.

A “Glog” can include audio clips, such as music and narration, video clips, Web links, digital images, and texts. It is a web 2.0 learning platform for teachers and students to express their creativity, knowledge, ideas and skills in the classroom. This workshop in-cludes creation of glogster.edu accounts, introduction to glogster.edu platform, step-by-step tutorial for creating and publishing a glog, and copyright-friendly resources for students and teachers. ACCESSIBLE READING FOR THE PRINT DISABLED STUDENT GRADES: K-12 PLATFORM: Mac & PC Portable eBook reading devices such as the accessible Victor Reader Stream, can be part of the teacher’s strategy to create independence in the learning process and enhance their student's confidence and self esteem. These tools help students from primary school to college, as a study tool both in the classroom and at home. GRADES: K-12 PLATFORM: Mac or iPad Keeping perspective in examining how we use Apps and iPads can be difficult. Your view will vary on whether your focus is on blindness and low vision, autism, augmentative communication or other conditions. We will examine strengths and weaknesses of iOS devices, and braille technology when used separately in stand-alone mode - or together via VoiceOver. Combining these technologies provides ergonomic and accurate methods to quickly enter text, read eBooks, access dictionary and thesaurus, and navigate web pages via the browser. Includes discussion of using the iPAD in conjunction with a digital assistant with a refreshable braille display and braille keyboard.

A wikispace, or wiki for short, is a website that allows the owner to easily change and manipulate pages. Using a wiki in the classroom is a great way to: inform stu-dents about events, keep them on track (homework, calendar, etc.), post documents that you use in class for them to access at home, and allow students to interact online with their peers.
