Well done to Class 3 for an enter-

taining and brilliantly

performed sharing

OUTSTANDING LEARNERS OF THE WEEK! Class R Imogen for fantastic understanding and use of tricky vocabulary.

Class 1 The Whole of Class 1 for working so well with multiplication.

Class 2 Georgia for her consistent hard work and effort in everything she does. She brings a great attitude and smile to the classroom each day.

Class 3 The Whole of Class 3 for their amazing performance in their play about the Romans.

Class 4 Isaac for his poem (see below). Class 4’s poems were entered into a poetry competition and Isaac’s poem was commended out of 906 entries! Fantastic work, well done Isaac!

Class 5 Charlotte for the support, leadership and ability she has shown during our morning of athletics with Maths.

Class 6 Maura for being really focussed and working hard this week.

Before half term 11 Year 4 children, their parents

and Mrs Nicholls went to Somerset College to take part in a rounder’s tournament. This was the first tournament that the team had taken part in so nerves were running high! On arrival the teams were talked through the rules and then the matches began. As you can see from the results there was no need for any nerves as the team played exceptionally well!

On Wednesday 8th June some Year 5 & 6s

went to Taunton Vale Cricket Club to compete in the Kwik-cCicket playoffs. We all did very well. Our first match was a friendly against St. Andrews and we lost this by quite a large margin. We still held our heads high and went into the next match against Creech St. Michael. After the 12 overs, Milverton won it by just 2 runs off the very last ball of the game. This meant we moved to the semi-final! This was against Wiveliscombe (our rivals) and yet again we beat them quite convincingly allowing us to move forward into the final! Unfortunately, we came up against last year’s winners, Parkfield, and we lost the match in the very last over – it was so close! However, we still received our silver medals and won a place at the Somerset Kwik Cricket Finals to be held at Somer-set County Cricket Ground on June 22nd. Well done to everyone that played and thank you to the parents for their help with transport and cheering and Mr Coupe for umpiring. We are really looking forward to the next tournament. by Josh, Class 6

On Tuesday 7th June 2016, Milverton School Year 5 Cricket team took part in the Tone Schools Primary Year 5 Kwik Cricket Tournament. This took place at Taunton Cricket Club at Tone Vale. The weather was really hot and sunny and perfect for cricket. In the squad we had 8 players, each game had 3 pairs with one pair having a rest. We played 4 games, winning 3 and losing just 1. Unfortu-nately, the match we lost meant that we didn’t get through to the semi-finals, however we all played really well and competitively. We would like to thank all the parents for taking us and cheering us on, SASP for organis-ing such a great tournament and Mr Coupe and the teach-ers from other schools for umpiring and keeping score. by Jack and Finley, Class 5

Peregrine Falcon

O Falcon fierce and heroic your eyes scan land for prey. Your speed beats night and day. Flying higher and higher. You are a bird that can inspire. Is it a mystery what you eat? Why do you have such a sharp beak? Why are your eyes so filled with fire? Why are your talens like barbed wire? Are you usually in a good mood or bad mood? Are you good at scavenging for food? You must go and feed your chicks now So please go past. Wait one last thing to ask. Really how are you so fast? By Isaac, Class 4

We are holding eco art day next week and
