Float n’ Flicks – The first Float n' Flick is scheduled for next Saturday, July 7th at the Community Center pool starting at 8:30 p.m. Feature presentation, Dolphin Tale, will begin at 8:30 p.m. Bring your floats and enjoy the flick, while you munch on some fresh popcorn! Scoop the Poop! – Scooping your pooch's poop isn't just a courtesy, it's the healthy and environmentally sound thing to do. The Association has received several recent reports of concern regarding a lack of attention to this necessary chore. Picking up after your dog is not only easy, it's the law.

Here are some easy steps for dealing with your pet's waste:

The first step is to always carry a plastic bag with you when you walk your dog. Re-using an old newspaper delivery bag or plastic grocery bag works well.

Using the bag like a glove, you can then pick up the pet waste, turn the bag inside out around the waste, seal the bag, and dispose of it in a trash can or one of Brambleton's many pet waste receptacles.

Don't place the bagged or un-bagged pet waste in a storm drain or hose the pet waste towards storm drains as they drain directly to a stream, river, lake or other water body.

BCA Trash and Recycling Survey – Recycling of household waste has increased due to

single-stream recycling and the acceptance of more materials that can be recycled. Brambleton Community Association will be negotiating a new trash and recycling contract which will affect collection throughout the community for the next 5 years. Please take a couple of minutes to complete this 12 question survey and provide us with a better understanding of your household’s needs. Your feedback and comment on this matter is appreciated and valued. Thank you. SURVEY LINK - https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/GZFPDFP

COUNTY CORNER I Want to Display Fireworks in My Back Yard. Are Certain Fireworks Illegal to Possess? –Yes. In Loudoun County, any firework that explodes, rises into the air, moves across the ground or shoots projectiles into the air, is illegal to possess in Virginia. These devices include firecrackers, roman candles, pop bottle rockets, as well as shell devices used at public displays.

Page 3: Friday Flash June 29, 2012

Although it is fairly easy to obtain these items by going across state lines, possession and use of these devices is a Class 1 Misdemeanor in Virginia. Depending on the classification of the device, federal explosives charges could also be imposed for interstate transport. The Fire Marshal's Office recommends that only fireworks sold at retail stands in Loudoun County be used. They may not be used on public property, including streets and roads. These fireworks have been tested to ensure they are suitable for consumers and are on an approved list maintained by the Fire Marshal's Office.

Fireworks Safety – To report an emergency, please call 911. For non-emergency concerns related to the use or storage of fireworks, contact the Loudoun County Fire Marshall at 703-737-8600. Their website has details on permitted fireworks and additional safety tips. http://www.loudoun.gov/documents/3/82/Approved%20Fireworks%20List_201205151126065546.pdf
