Rain in the Drain – Brambleton participates in this important effort to help protect our local watershed. Awareness and education are essential in this ongoing program. Please be sure to share with your family, friends, and contractors that nothing should be dumped in the drains. Report violators immediately to Loudoun County at 703-777-0111, send an e-mail, or complete an online complaint form.

Playing By The Rules – All basketball equipment requires an approved application by the Covenants Committee. Requirements for a completed application include a copy of the plat with the proposed location of the hoop indicated along with signatures of adjacent neighbors. The Design Guidelines for Brambleton require that hoops must be located at least 15 feet from the street and located so that basketballs will not fall into the yards of adjoining homes and state that the use of basketball equipment is limited to daylight hours. Please ensure that the basketball equipment located on your property is not used outside of daylight hours.

In addition, the use of bagged mulch or sand, cinder blocks or other such items to secure portable hoops is not permitted. Research performed by our office reveals the following suggestions for securing portable basketball hoops:

Place the hoop on a flat surface as portable hoops are unsteady and can fall over fairly easily.

Fill the base using sand and/or water. Sand weighs more and is more stable than water. If you fill the base with water and the base cracks, the water could leak out unnoticed, and the unit could fall over, possibly causing injury. Sand is denser and heavier, and Basketballhoopbuyingguide.com notes that filling the base with sand creates a much more stable pole and backboard.

Inspect regularly and provide supervision while in use.
