Birthdays, Anniversaries & More – If you would you like to wish someone a happy birthday or anniversary in the January newsletter, or introduce your new bundle of joy, send messages/stats and photos to [email protected] by COB today! 5K/10K Group Training Program for the Brambleton Ribbon Run – JRU Coaching is leading a 12-week in-person 5K/10K training program to focus on the April 13 th Ribbon Run/Walk, beginning January 22 nd , meeting every Tuesday and Thursday at 6:00 p.m. in Brambleton. JRU Coaches are dedicated to helping people achieve their race goals, increase endurance and speed, in a fun and motivating group setting. A portion of all training registration will be donated to the Step Sisters. To register, please visit www.justrunu.com and Facebook at www.facebook.com/JRUCoaching. Win a FREE entrance to the training program by emailing [email protected], sharing a brief statement as to why you or someone you know deserves this prize. Trash Troubles – The Association office regularly receives reports from residents about trash and recycling in Brambleton. One area of trouble is in regard to wind. With the ongoing high winds in our area, wind-blown trash and debris is an ever present problem. Association staff and contractors work to clear trash and debris from common areas. Residents are reminded that the Association's governing documents require that they clear wind-blown trash from their property. Holiday Considerations – Holiday travel time is upon us. If traveling away from Brambleton for the holiday, please lock up your house and if possible have a neighbor watch out for anything unusual. The walk kicks off at 12:30 p.m., followed by the races at 1:00 p.m. You and your children can be a part of this festive event by helping to cheer on the runners and direct them on their way! Here’s how you can help! COUNTY CORNER Greenway Toll Increase - Public Comment Period Open – Last month, TRIP II, which owns the Greenway, filed an application with the State Corporation Commission (SCC) to increase tolls 3.54 percent - equal to 14 - cents for a standard two-axle vehicle. The company requested the SCC approve the increase to be effective January 1st. The SCC has opened the public comment period on this request, which will raise tolls on the 14 mile highway that runs from Rt. 28 to Leesburg. Please submit comments online by going to www.scc.virginia.gov/case. Once there, click on the <public comment/notices> link, followed by the <submit comments> button for case number PUE-2012-00136. Winter Wonderland for Sandy Hook – If you are interested in helping out Sandy Hook students, the Legacy PTO is organizing a snowflake drive. The request from the Sandy Hook PTA is to make the temporary school into a winter wonderland when the students return to school in January. The Harringtons will personally drop off the Snowflakes on December 25th on their way north for Christmas.
