Calling VICA “the best business advocacy organization there is,” incoming VICA Chair Kevin Tamaki (AT&T) donned the symbolic VICA boxing gloves and robe as he prepared to champion advocacy for the San Fernando Valley business community. Outgoing Chair Coby King (High Point Strategies) handed over the gear shortly after VICA members unanimously approved VICA’s 2016 Board of Directors and Executive Committee at the Hilton Universal City. VICA’s mission, to advocate for a better business climate and a quality of life for the San Fernando Valley and Greater Los Angeles Area, were themes mentioned by the event’s award winners, as well. VICA Past Chair David Adelman (Greenberg & Bass) was recognized for his service to VICA over the past year with the 10th annual President’s Award. VICA Board of Governors Member Pegi Matsuda (Valley Presbyterian Hospital) was recognized for her service to numerous community organizations as the 23rd annual Harmon Ballin Community Service Award recipient. And one of VICA’s newest members, Recology, was recognized for its innovative programs and ability to work as a community partner as the recipient of the Robert E. Gibson Corporate Award of Excellence.
