Please bear in mind that Friday’s classes will be regular, scheduled ones where we’ll be getting real work done during the precious time we have with your students. We therefore ask you to observe a few “rules of the visitors’ road”: 1. Please arrive a few minutes ahead of time, so that we can all get settled for a full period of teaching and learning. 2. Be aware that there simply may not be room to accommodate all visitors in every class—and that even where space is available you may be asked to give up your seat to a student. 3. Turn off cell phones, cameras, and any other beeping, booping, or flashing devices. 4. Plan to stay for the entire period, so as not to disrupt the class with any comings and goings. 5. Resist the urge to participate in the discussion. Many of our colleagues are so engaging that this particular temptation is a surprisingly common one. That said, you haven't done the reading, and the professor knows that, so don't raise your hand. Keeping these guidelines in mind will ensure a great experience for us all. Many thanks for your consideration. We look forward to seeing you in our classrooms!
