Access to Venue
• Athlete’s Lounge is located west of the Age Group
Transition.
• Enter through the south gates of the Age Group transition
and walk up the outer aisle.
Check-in Procedures
•Bike check – before entering Athletes’
Lounge• Refer to 5.2 in competition rules
- Handlebars- Wheels (non authorized UCI wheels rule)- Bike frame- Saddle positions (-5cm≤ Men & -2cm≤ Women)
• Approved exceptions on ITU website:http://www.triathlon.org/about/download_file/elite_bike_saddle_rule_exceptions
Approval for the addition/modification of any equipment to
the bike,
MUST be obtained from the Race Referee up until 10
minutes after
the end of the Athletes’ Briefing.
• Bike Mechanic service available.
Check-in Procedures
•Athletes’ Lounge• Uniform and gear check (name, country, logos, ITU logo,
zippers, race caps) – photos will be taken of each uniform.
Wearing a different uniform during the race = DSQ
• Body marking check (both arms and both legs, 33 vs )
• Swim cap distribution
• Timing chip distribution
• Leave your personal gear in the Athletes’ Lounge (use your
bag drop sticker)

Check-in Procedures
•Transition Area• Helmet check – Do not leave your helmet fastened in
transition.
Failure to comply with this rule = 10 second penalty in TA1
• Running shoes go outside your box
• Helmet on bike
• Labeled Spare wheels go to the Team Wheel Stop
• Return your non-competition gear to the Athletes’ Lounge
(use your bag drop sticker)

Bike4 Laps of 5 km = 20 km
Run2 Laps of 2.5 km = 5 km

Pre-start Procedure
•Athletes’ Introduction• 15 minutes before your start, gather in the swim start area
• When you are introduced, jog to the swim start platform
• Quickly select your start position
• After selecting your position, stay behind the line
Blocking more than one position = DSQ
Start Procedure
•Athletes in Position• The start can be given any time after the Race Referee
announces “On Your Mark!”
• Air Horn
• The race starts
• After selecting your position, stay behind the line
Athletes not moving forward from the start line = 10
second penalty in TA1
False Start Procedure
•False start with many athletes• Several horn blasts
• Kayaks move in front of you
• Everyone goes back to his/her original start spot
•Valid start with early starters• If a few athletes start before the horn and everyone else
starts with the horn, the false starter(s) will receive a 10
second penalty in TA1. During the time penalty, the
athlete(s) may NOT touch any equipment.
Swim Course

• Distance to first turn buoy (red) at 200 m; keep on left
shoulder
• Keep remaining yellow and orange buoys on your right
shoulder
• Swim behaviour will be closely monitored
• Take wetsuit (if permitted during swim), swim cap and
goggles to transition and place in your box

• 1 Lap of 300 m (clockwise)
• Distance to first turn buoy (red) at 100 m; keep on left
shoulder
• Swim behaviour will be closely monitored

Transition Area
• Individual bike racks• Name, Number, Country Code and Flag
• All used equipment goes into your box
Failure to put equipment in box = 10 second penalty on
run
• Mount Line is at the end of TA (GREEN LINE)
• Dismount Line is at the beginning of TA (RED LINE)
Bike Course
• 4 Laps of 5.0 km = 20.0 km 2 laps for Youth
• Ride through TA
• Undulating and technical (a couple of tight turns)
• Two Wheel Stations• Team WS approximately 150 m after exiting transition
• Neutral WS at far end of Groat Road Bridge
• Lap Counter: just past transition exit
• Lapped athletes will be removed from the race

• Caution Signal• Sharp whistles and/or red flags
Transition – Bike to Run
Run Course
• 2 Laps of 2.5 km = 5 km Youth 1 Lap = 2.5 km
• Aid Stations• 3 per lap
• Sealed water bottles
• Only discard bottles and litter within the littering zones as indicated
by the following signs:
• Photo Finish
• When you finish, keep moving through to the mixed-zone
and recovery area.

Run Penalty Box
• Run Penalty Box is for infringements in TA1, TA2 or on the
Run Course• Mount before mount line
• Dismount after dismount line
• Equipment outside your box, et. cetera
• Location: North end of lake near turn-around
• Notification: Posted on white board at Penalty Box
(YOU MUST read the board)
• Procedure: 10 second time penalty served on any lap of
the run
Failure to serve penalty = DSQ
Post-race Procedures
• Photo Finish
• When you finish, keep moving through to the mixed-zone
and recovery area
• For awards, dress “up” with race uniform or country clothes
• Ambush marketing rules apply
• Hats/visors are allowed on the podium with maximum 1
sponsor logo having a maximum height of 4 cm and a total
area of 20 cm2
Ambush Marketing Rule
• Ambush marketing is defined as:
“Deliberately using the opportunity of live television and
media photographers to acquire additional exposure for
your sponsor product, apparel or brand.”
• The consequence for this behavior is that the athlete will
immediately forfeit their prize money for that event, if any.
• Please follow the ambush marketing rule
Coaches’ Areas
• Coaches accreditations will only be distributed to those
coaches whose National Federations registered them
through the on-line system
• They will have access to:• The Athletes’ Lounge and Post-recovery Area
• South side of Transition area
• Beside the Penalty Box
Notes
• There will be no warming up on the bike course as the
roads will be in use for other events / logistics purposes

Mixed Team Relay
Team order: #1 - Female
#2 - Male
#3 - Female
#4 - Male
Team order will be submitted at the end of this
briefing Mixed provincial/national teams can be submitted
Changes can be made with the TD up to 2 hours before
race start (1530, Sunday)
Check-in Procedures (Relay)
Team members must check in together
• Body marking (both arms, both legs)
• Example: 11-1, 11-2, 11-3, 11-4
• Uniform check
• Timing chip distribution
• 1 for the ankle, each athlete
• Swim cap distribution
• 1 colour for each athlete on the team• Red, White, Orange, Blue

• One A-frame rack per team
• Random bike checks: handlebars & wheels• Wheels must be UCI approved
• Can check in spare wheels
• Random helmet checks• 3 helmet stickers – front + both sides
• Running shoes on the ground, helmets on the bike
Pre-Start Procedure (Relay)
• 10 minutes before start – first leg team members line
up on swim exit ramp
• Jog down to the beach and to the start line as you are
permitted
• Select a position
• Once all athletes are aligned, stay in place until the
race starts

• “On your mark” – ready to dive
• Air horn blast• Start can occur any time after “On your mark”
• The race starts
• Forward progress only

Run Penalty Box
• The penalty box is for infringements in: T1, Bike and T2 Mount before mount line, dismount after dismount line,
discharge or store your equipment outside your designated TA space, rack your bike outside your own space, etc.
• Location: 250m before the Finish – 15 m before the turn into the exchange zone
• Information: White board to show race numbers Athletes need to read the board Team number will be displayed
Penalties served by any athlete on the team If penalty not served, team DSQ
Relay Zone
• Athletes wait in a marshalling area• Move into relay zone when invited to do so by official
• The incoming athlete must make contact with the
body of the next teammate, using his/her hand
• If the tag is outside the zone, both athletes must
return and complete the exchange properly• Exchange not completed inside the exchange zone =
DSQ
