Covenant Corner By Davis Robson

Many of you do not know me, and for this first entry I wanted to give everyone a little background about me. To say I’ve been around Forest Ridge my whole life is an understatement. When I was a little kid I spent many days playing on the streets of Oaklane and trying to climb on any work machines that were left open. I guess the construction business was in my blood because by the time I was two I could tell you any machine that was on the jobsite and how it was used. As I got older my role within Forest Ridge changed. I no longer played in the streets, but I became an employee. I did anything from painting fence, hauling brush and doing take offs for Doug in the Development office.

After High School I went to Florida to try my luck on the professional tennis tour. That didn’t work out as well as I thought it was going to in my head. I ended up throwing my back out and moving back to Oklahoma to go to school at Oklahoma State (Go Pokes). I completed my Bachelors in Business Management with a minor in Marketing and decided it was time to get back into construction. So, I started my own remodeling business with the purpose to flip houses. I joined the Home Builders Association (HBA) as a remodeler and this membership provided necessary connections in the construction industry.

I had good success as a remodeler for several years then Dad asked me to go to breakfast with him one morning. He explained to me that Doug was retiring soon and he wanted to know if I’d be interested in stepping in as Doug’s successor. This was a hard decision for me, because as much as I love the business and Forest Ridge, it would be very challenging to come in to your father’s business. After careful consideration I told him I was interested and I haven’t looked back on that decision. I started as Doug’s shadow in January and learned more in six months than I did in all four years of school. He was/is an amazing mentor and friend. I am honored to step into this position and be given the chance to serve you, the Residents, while maintaining the great reputation that Forest Ridge has earned over the years. I look forward to working with everyone! Here are a few things going on throughout the neighborhood:

Wellstone ParkWellstone Park is almost complete. We are waiting on cooler weather to plant some trees then we will sod and the park will be open.

Spring HillThis is a new subdivision in the works! Spring Hill at Forest Ridge will be a residential development on the east side of Wellstone Park. More details will come soon. Trail RenovationAs some of you know we had part of our jogging trail slip off into the creek by The Pointe. We had that fixed last week and will be sodding that at the same time as we sod Wellstone Park.

Halloween ExtravaganzaSave the Date! Please mark your calendars for Thursday, October 27th 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. More details in next month’s newsletter.
