Helping young people with learning difficulties JAM(JacareíAmparaMenores)meansJacareíAssistsorProtectsYoungPeople.ThisprivateinstitutionwasfoundedinJacareí (BR) in1969andlegallyactsasaNGO,receivingfinancialcontributionsfromthegovernment,privatecompaniesandothercontributors.Itsmissionistosupportandassistpeoplewithlearningdifficultiesfromalowsocioandeconomicbackgroundwhoseparentsstruggletomakeendsmeet.Theydealmainlywith

childrenandyoungpeople,promotingtheir integrationinsocialandworkinglife,developingtheirskillsandcapabil-itiesbyspecial teachingandtraining.

Professional training for these youngpeoplewithlearningdifficultiesoffersavarietyofpracticaljobexperience,devel-opingtheirskillsforfutureintegrationinrealjobs,attainingpersonalsatisfactionandifpossible,economicindependence.JAMalsooffersthemsocialassistance,medicalcare,sportsandsocialactivities.Additionally,JAMhasinitiatedaspecialprogrammethatplacesyoungpeoplewithinvariouscompaniesintheregionwhere they are employed as officesupport. Learn to Transform Thirty percent of all children do notfinishelementaryschool inBrazil.Tenpercentofallyoungpeopledropoutofhighschool. Many of them do not get thechance to change their lives becausewithoutpropereducationitishardtostartagoodcareer. Freudenbergdevelopedafree,six-monthprofessionaltrainingcourseforyoungpeoplefromlowincomefamilies, with the aim of improvingtheirvocationalskills.Teenagersreceiveabasiccertificationduringthecourse

onhowtoproperlyoperateamachinefor example. They also learn aboutmarketing,administrationandenviron-mental protection. Furthermore, thecourseincludesclassesinetiquette,asthebusinessenvironmentdemandspoliteinteractionwithothersasanimportantbuildingblockforagoodandbeneficialcollaboration.AllclassesaredeliveredbyFreudenbergemployees,sharingtheirknowledgeandexperience.

Since2009wehavetrained176students.About24percentofthem(42people)nowworkforthecompanywhilehalfoftheremaininggraduateshavefoundworkinothercompanies.
