About the School
The School of Mechanical & Aeronautical Engineering (MAE) is one of the first engineeringschools to offer formal engineering education in Singapore. MAE students are imbued with ahealthy curiosity to explore the marvels of engineering through multi-disciplinary projects. They are nurtured to be versatile thinkers eager to improve society with innovativesolutions, and equipped with knowledge and skills to design and fabricate things.
The School offers the following full-time Diploma courses:- Aeronautical Engineering- Bioengineering- Mechanical Engineering- Mechatronics & Robotics- Engineering with Business (jointly with School of Electrical & Electronic Engineering)- the Common Engineering Programme for year 1 students.
Our students will also embark on Internship Programme which provides them with authenticand essential out-of-classroom working experience, and an opportunity to learn and interactwith the industry experts.
In line with Singapore Polytechnic’s vision to promote a caring community, students areencouraged to participate in overseas humanitarian efforts such as the Overseas CommunityInvolvement Projects (OCIP) where students will render their time and effort in helping folksin rural villages of neighbouring countries.
Notably, students are also engaged in Overseas Social Innovation Projects (OSIP), whichprovides a unique learning experience. Students will spend 2 weeks with fellow studentsfrom the host countries and using the SP Design Thinking framework, their technical skillsand domain knowledge; to uncover the unmet needs of villagers and urban poor. Studentswill then proceed to co-create possibilities with the villagers and develop solutions toaddress those needs.
