Wednesday, August 30, 12:30–1PM - Gallery Talk: Carl Grossberg and New Objectivity. Melissa Venator, the Stefan Engelhorn Curatorial Fellow in the Busch- Reisinger Museum, will discuss Grossberg’s realist works, created during the interwar period in Germany. This talk is limited to 15 people, and free tickets are required. Ten minutes before the talk, tickets will become available at the admissions desk with HUID. Harvard Art Museums, 32 Quincy St. Wednesday, August 30, 8:30-10:30PM – Green Brain Break. Join the Resource Efficiency Program (REP) to see how students eat, live, and breathe green at Harvard. Sip refreshing smoothies as you chat with representatives from environmental clubs, concentrations, and groups on campus. Each booth will have a different flavor. Most importantly, all fair attendees will receive a free Green ’21 travel mug to use at Brain Break and cafés for the rest of the year! Annenberg. Extended Orientation runs from Saturday, August 26—Monday, August 28. Check with your Proctor for the dates, times, and locations for your entryway’s workshops. Curious about what it’s like to be a BGLTQ- identified student at Harvard? Interested in engaging with and helping strengthen our BGLTQ community? Come hear first-person narratives from current students, touching upon being “out” on campus, navigating family relationships, using identity labels, being a “good” ally, seeking help when you need it, and more. The narratives will be followed by open-ended Q&A. Students of all identities are welcome, especially those hoping to be supportive of their BGLTQ friends. Ice cream will be served! Come talk about exploring classes with all 190 Peer Advising Fellows over bowls of ice cream! Annenberg. The Harvard University Police Department (HUPD) will be conducting a bicycle and laptop registration in Annenberg at lunch (11AM-2PM) Wednesday and Thursday, August 30 and 31, and dinner (5-7PM) Wednesday and Thursday, September 6 and 7. Please bring your laptop with you. Please do not bring your bike to Annenberg. However, you will need your bike’s make, model, serial number, color, and style to complete the registration. HUPD will also be offering LoJack for Laptops, a software-based theft recovery and data security service that is embedded into a computer's basic input/output system (BIOS) and installed onto the hard drive of the computer. In the event that a laptop is lost or stolen, LoJack for Laptops can track, locate, and recover laptops. In addition, owners have the ability to remotely lock their computer and delete files, protecting their personal information against identity theft. Safety & Security Tips

• Store the HUPD urgent number (617-495-1212) in your cell phone.

• When you leave your room, lock your doors and windows. Do not prop open doors or disengage door locks.

• Do not leave your purse, wallet, book bag, laptop, cell phone, iPod, or other property unattended in a public setting.

• Do not allow anyone you do not know to enter a building when you are entering or exiting. If a stranger does enter, call HUPD.

• If you are out after dark, use only well-lit routes or designated pathways, make use of shuttle buses, van service, and the escort program. Note the location of blue light phones.

• Do not talk on your cell phone or use ear phones while walking or riding your bike.

• Register for MessageMe, the University’s emergency text messaging system, by going to messageme.harvard.edu.

• You are strongly encouraged to purchase your own personal property insurance for a preferred

Audition for Harvard's Premier, Nationally-Ranked, Competitive Dance Team! The Crimson Dance Team performs at varsity football and basketball games, participates in community service events, and competes at UDA Nationals at ESPN's Wide World of Sports in

Orlando, FL. CDT provides an excellent opportunity to perform, choreograph, service the community, and form friendships that last a lifetime! Join a quick informational meeting Tuesday, August 29, 6PM, in the Harvard Dance Center. Auditions will be held on Saturday, September 2, 7:30-10:30AM in the Harvard Dance Center.

Lend a Helping Hand at the Class of 2021 Day of Service. The annual First-Year Day of Service will begin with an orientation from Dean Khurana at 10AM and a welcome to Cambridge and Boston from community leaders. You will then participate in public service projects that will allow you to learn about and contribute to the community in which Harvard is embedded. Service projects will include landscaping, light construction, shelving canned food, sorting school supplies, etc. Lunch will be provided, and you will be back on campus by 5PM. Participate in a Behavioral Research Study. The Harvard University Cognitive Neuroscience Lab is interested exploring how behaviors such as sleep, stress, and cognitive function

interact while students are in their freshman year! Compensation is up to $1,360. If you are interested and meet the conditions below, please contact us for more information. In order to participate, you must: be at least 18 years old; be beginning or in your freshman year of college; be in good general health; be a native English speaker; and have a smartphone. Undocu-Harvard: Welcome Event for Undocumented, DACA, and Mixed Status Family Students. Get to know the campus support systems in place to support students affected by immigration policies, and enjoy great food! Meet Katie Derzon, the Fellow for Undocumented Students; Jason Corral, attorney for Undocumented/DACA students at the Harvard Immigration and Refugee Clinic; and the UndocuSupport team from around the College. Older students who are Undocu+ will also be there to talk about their experiences navigating life at Harvard and finding a community in Act on a Dream. All identities welcome; no status assumed.
