!  Pilot confirms benefits and efficiencies for deliver times:

Need to define an Optimization plan, ex: •  Shortening buffer time between containers / gensets handling to train departure

•  Train confirmation ahead as possible in order for train companies to plan better route

•  Optimal arrival on morning time

!  Gensets sensitivities requires dedicated attention during the receiving & route:

Clear Guidelines for the next shipments.

!  Innovative Tracing and Monitoring capabilities proved much of essential and practical monitoring tool.

Page 14: Fresh Food Corridors

Trainpilotsplanned

Actually: -  Number of completed block trains: 4 (2x Koper, 1x Venice, 1x Marseille-Fos)

-  Total block trains planned for 2016: 9 (3x Koper, 3x Venice, 3x Marseille-Fos)

-  Total block trains planned for 2017: 9 (3x Koper, 3x Venice, 3x Marseille-Fos)

Testing 3 block trains per corridor:

-  1st trip to verify theoretical costs and operations about the logistic chain

-  2nd trip to test the equipment with outside higher temperatures

-  3rd trip to test the same logistic chain with more sensible goods

(peppers, tomatoes)

Parallel prilot activities in FFC project: !  La Spezia Port Authority is studying and developing different scenarios

(analyses) for possible corridors between EU and non EU countries (including US)

!  Cyprus Ports Authority developing a corridor ICT platform to monitor full fresh food chain and fasten administrative procedures related to transport of perishable goods

Page 16: Fresh Food Corridors

Acheivements&nextsteps

Obtained results: !  Reduced transit time (5 to 8 days less) from Mediterranean to Northern

Europe

!  Reduced traffic jams on the road, on gates and on terminals

!  Constantly monitored (containers position, humidity, temperature, location, doors‘ opening etc.)

Next steps: !  Data analysis for costs, emissions and transit times optimization

!  Equipment and terminal capacities‘ optimization and improvement

!  Development of new technology to be applied on wagons, for a „cleaner“

transport of goods through rails from Southern to Northern Europe

!  Improvement of EU relationship with third countries
