FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
I. Filling of Application 1. If any column is left blank while filling the Application Form what happens?
It will be rejected – please verify and confirm that every column has been filled before submitting the application.
2. I am a repeater student from Karnataka. Where can, I get the CET‐2012 application form? You can go to the institution where you have studied & passed and pay a DD of Rs. 650/‐ to get the application or you can obtain the application directly by sending a DD for Rs. 750/‐ with a self addressed envelope to the KEA office.
3. How much DD should I have to pay for the application as I am a repeater student belonging to SC/ ST/ Cat‐1? You have pay a DD of Rs. 500/‐ if you want to get the application through the institution that you have studied OR you can send a DD of 750/‐ with a self‐addressed envelope to the KEA office of you want the form directly KEA will send the broacher cum application form to your address by speed post.
4. I am a student residing outside Karnataka. Can apply for KCET‐2012? Please read the eligibility clauses in our website before applying for KCET – 2012.
5. Is it necessary to apply separately for Medical and Engineering courses? Not necessary. Application form is common for all the courses.
6. I am a CBSE student studying in Kuwait. How much amount of DD I have to enclose to get the application? You have to enclose a DD for Rs. 5000/‐ drawn in favor of “The Executive Director, KEA” payable at Bangalore along with a self addressed cloth line‐cover for sending the brochure cum application
7. I am an SC/ST repeater student. I want to get the application form directly to my residence. How much amount of DD I have to send? You have to send a DD for Rs. 750/‐ payable at Bangalore.

8. Can I send my requisition for obtaining CET‐2012 application, through courier? No. KEA will not take the responsibility for envelops sent through courier or given in person or through any other private arrangements.
9. What is the minimum percentage of marks to apply for Medical Course? In II PUC/ 12th Std, you have to score 50% of marks in aggregate in PCB subjects. (That is, 150 marks out of 300 put together in PCB in Karnataka II PUC Exam). For SC, ST, 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B and cat I the percentage of marks in aggregate subjects is 40%. (That is you have to score a minimum of 120 marks out of 300 put together in PCB in Karnataka II PUC Exam)
10. I am a student studying in Karnataka. What is the age limit to appear for Medical Course? You have to complete 17 years of age as on 31st December 2012.
11. In the Application Form few columns are not relevant to me. However you have said that all incomplete applications will be rejected. What to do in such circumstances? The Application has to be filled up in all respects. Where ever any column is not applicable, the candidate shall write N.A. in the relevant column.
12. I have passed my 2nd PU/12th Standard exam in 2010, I wish to write CET 2012 Exam, whether I should obtain the application Form through my old Institution I have studied or can I apply directly to KEA. You can get the application from your concerned School or College by submitting a DD or Rs.650/‐ for G.M. & OBC (Rs.500/‐for SC/ST/Cat‐1). If you want application by Speed Post from KEA, you have to submit a DD for Rs.750/‐ (within India)
13. Is it necessary to write the previous CET No.in the column provided in the Application Form?
If you have taken a seat in any of the discipline through KEA then it is necessary to write the previous CET No., college, course etc.
14. I have taken a Medical Seat in CET‐2010. Am I eligible to write CET again for Medical? No. But you can take CET for other courses like ISMH/Engineering/Architecture. Upon such selection the original seat selected in previous year will be cancelled.

15. I am a Horanadu Kannadiga Candidate, but I have studied in Kannada medium from 1st to 10th standard outside Karnataka. Am I supposed to write Kannada Language Examination? No. You are exempted from the writing Kannada language exam applicable to Horanadu Kannadiga. You have to fill up the clause code as ‘n’ in your application.
16. I am a Gadinadu Candidate, but I have studied in Kannada medium from 1st to 10th standard outside Karnataka. Am I supposed to write Kannada Language Examination? No. You are exempted from the writing Kannada language exam applicable to Gadinadu Kannadiga. You have to fill up the clause code as ‘n’ in your application.
17. I am residing outside the State of Karnataka. I am neither Horanadu Or Gadinadu Kannadiga. But I have studied 1st Standard to 10th Standard in Kannada Medium in the State I resided. Am I eligible for Kannada medium reservation? Yes. You are eligible to claim the benefit of reservation in Kannada Medium you need not take up Kannada language exam test.
18. Is it necessary to appear for CET‐2012 Examination for Architecture course? Not Necessary. You have to apply for CET‐2012 and get the CET number.
19. Do you consider the marks obtained in Mathematics while declaring the ranks for Architecture? No. We will consider the total marks obtained in all subjects. (Including languages).
20. What is the minimum mark to be scored in PUC to apply for Engineering courses? The minimum percentage of marks in PUC is 45% in case of GM and 40% in case of SC, ST, 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B and Cat 1 candidates. In this, Physics and Mathematics marks are taken compulsorily along with either Chemistry / Biology/ Bio‐technology.
21. I have taken an Engineering seat during 2011 counseling. Can I appear for the exam and change my college and course? No. It is not possible. You can appear for the examination for other discipline and opt for Medical/ Dental/ ISM&H courses.

22. I am interested only in Medical and Dental courses. Is it necessary to appear for Mathematics paper also? No. if you are appearing only for Medical/ Dental course you can skip the Mathematics paper If you have scored 50% marks in II PUC PCB, (150 marks out of 300 marks) and 50% marks in PCB subjects of CET(90 marks out of 180 marks) then your rank will be declared for Medical/ Dental along with ISM&H.(40% of marks in both CET and II PUC in case of SC/ ST/ OBC.(i.e 120 marks out of 300 marks and 72 out of 180 marks).
23. I have studied 1st standard to7th standard in Kannada medium. Am I eligible for Kannada reservation? No. The candidate has to study from 1st standard to 10th standard continuously to get the benefit of reservation under Kannada medium.
24. My father was in a Rural area when I was in 1st standard to 4th standard. After that, I have studied completely in a Taluk headquarter. Am I eligible for Rural reservation? For Rural reservation, the candidate should study from 1st standard to 10th standard in a Rural area and the parents annual income should not exceed Rs. 3.5 lakhs. Hence you are not eligible to claim Rural reservation. (In case of SC/ST/ Cat I candidates, there is no ceiling limit on income)
25. Who is the authority who can issue Kannada medium study certificate? The Principal/ Head master of the institution will issue Kannada medium certificate which has to be counter signed by BEO of the area/ jurisdiction. Uncertified certificate will not be accepted.
26. Where can I ask for Rural study certificate? You can get the Rural study certificate from your Principal/ Head Master of the institution where you have studied and you have to get it countersigned by the concerned BEO. Along with the Rural study, you have to submit the income certificate/ Non Creamy Layer Certificate (NCLC) issued by the concerned Tahsildar for GM candidates.
27. I am a ‘B’ Certificate holder in NCC. Can I mark reservation under special category in the CET‐2012 application form? Yes. You can mark in special category.

28. From where can I get the student number.? Please approach the Principal of your institution to get the student number.
29. I am a repeater student. Do I need to write the student no? Not necessary. You can say that the column is not applicable
30. I am a student studying in Hyderabad. I have applied for CET‐2012. Where I have to submit my filled in application form? You can send the filled in application form through “Speed Post” to ‘The Executive Director, Karnataka Examination Authority, 18th cross, Sampige Road, Malleshwaram, Bangalore.
31. I have studied from 1st standard to 8th Standard in Karnataka. My mother tongue is TAMIL. I am now residing with my parents in HOSUR. Am I eligible to apply for CET‐2012?
No. you are not eligible.
32. I have studied 11th & 12th standard in Karnataka. Both of my parents have studied up to degree in the State. Am I eligible to apply?
Yes. You are eligible under clause 6(b).
33. I am a student studying in Kerala. My mother tongue is Kannada. Am I eligible to apply for CET‐2012?
If your parents mother tongue is also Kannada, then you are eligible under clause (c). But you have to write a Kannada language test of level IV standard conducted by KEA & obtain a minimum of 12 marks out of 50 in the Kannada language test conducted by KEA.
34. I am a student staying in Kasaragod and have studied 7 years in Manjeshwar. My mother tongue is Tulu. Am I eligible to apply for CET‐2012?
Yes. You are eligible under clause (d). But you have to attend and secure 12 marks out of 50 in the Kannada language test conducted by KEA.
35. I am a defence personnel from Punjab working in Karnataka since 2011. My daughter has completed her 12th standard in Kendriya Vidyalaya, Yelahanka. Am i eligible & Under which clause of eligibility I come under?
Yes, you are eligible under clause (e).

36. I am a defence employee working in Chennai. I have declared my hometown as Virajpet in Kodagu. But my son has completed his 12th standard from Chennai. Can I apply for CET‐2012? Yes. You can apply under clause (f). But you have to produce your home town declaration.
37. I am a defence personnel who served in Karnataka from 2009 to 2011 and posted out to Kargil. My family is permitted to stay in B’lore. My daughter will complete her 12th standard in B’lore school. Can I apply for CET – 2012 for an Engineering seat?
Yes. You can apply under clause (g) and you have to submit the service certificate issued by the controlling officer.
38. I am an Ex‐servicemen staying in Karnataka I have declared my home town as Hunsur while joining the service. My daughter has completed her 12th standard PUC in Rajasthan. Am I eligible for securing seat?
Yes. You are eligible under clause(h).
39. I am a candidate with hearing disability, should I compulsorily produce BSER audiometry report to the committee on the date of medical test?
Yes. You have to produce BSER report.
II About CET Exam
40. What is to be done in first 10 minutes after the first bell in CET Exam?
You have to write the name, CET No, question booklet version code, 2nd PU Reg no. &question booklet sl.no. and shade the respective circles in the required manner as instructed in the OMR sheet.
41. How many versions of question paper will be given?
16 versions of questions papers will be given.
42. Is the evaluation of sheets done manually also? No. It will be scanned.
43. Is it necessary to use the black ball point only?
Yes. You may use Blue Ball point pen also.

44. How is the merit list of Medical and Dental courses prepared? The merit list will be prepared only on the basis of the marks obtained in CET‐Physics, Chemistry & Biology subjects.
45. Is there any minimum marks prescribed for getting a rank in Medical/ Dental courses?
Yes. You have to score 50% of marks in PCB subjects both in qualifying examination and in CET. (PCB in CET. (it is 40% in case of SC, ST, & OBC candidates)
46. How is merit determined for Ayurveda course?
50% of marks obtained by the candidates in Physics, Chemistry & Biology subjects in CET and 50% marks obtained in PCB in II PU/ 12th standard examination taken together in equal proportions will be used to determine the rank in Ayurveda QE.
47. How is the merit determined for Engineering course?
The merit of Engineering will be determined on the basis of 50% of marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects in CET and 50% of marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in II PU/ 12th standard examination taken in equal proportions.
48. How is the merit list for Architecture determined?
The Merit for Architecture will be determined on the basis of Total marks obtained in the qualifying examination in all subjects and the Valid NATA score taken in equal proportions. In NATA you have to score minimum of 80 marks.
49. I am an SC candidate. I have taken NATA examination. How much minimum marks I have to score in NATA for getting an Architecture rank? You have to score minimum marks of 80 in NATA.

61. Which of the eligibility clauses are applicable for defence personnel? The clauses (e), (f) and (g) are applicable for defence personnel.
62. If any column is left blank while filling the Application Form what happens? It will be rejected – please verify and confirm yourself before submitting the same.
63. My SC certificate is valid for 5years. But your Notification says that Caste Certificate will be valid only if it is obtained 6 months prior to the date of Notification. Which is correct? The Caste certificate is valid for five years. As per latest Government Order No. SWD 155 BCA 2012 dated 22‐02‐2012 the Income and Caste certificate issued for SC, ST and OBC is valid for five years. The notification is subject to the Government Orders and Circulars issued from time to time.

64. I belong to OBC Category and my parental Income is 2.5lakhs. Am I eligible for reservation? Yes. As per G.O. dated 06‐02‐201, the upper Income limit for OBC Category is Rs.3.5 lakhs. If the upper limit exceeds Rs.3.5lakhs, at present it will be considered as General Merit Candidate and no reservation under OBC Category will be available.
65. 68. I have studied PUC with Statistics as one of the Optional subject. Will the marks obtained in statistics be considered for eligibility in Engineering course? No. It will not be considered for eligibility.
69. I will produce manual Caste and Income Certificate issued by Tahsildar of my Taluk. Will it be accepted? No. You have to produce Computerized Caste Income Certificate for claiming the reservation benefits issued by the competent authority.
70. I am a student studying outside the State of Karnataka. Should I write my register number of the Examination in my application? Not necessary.

71. My Son has been studying 5th standard to 2nd PUC in Karnataka. My wife and I have studied in Karnataka completely. I would like to know under which eligibility clause I come under? Your Son is eligible for CET 2012, under clause ‘a’.
72. Can I appear for CET 4th time? Yes, you can appear for CET.
73. I have completed my PUC in 2004‐05 and also Diploma in Pharmacy in the year 2008‐09. Am I eligible for CET‐2012? Yes. You can appear for CET‐2012.
74. I have got the President’s Certificate for Scouts and Guides. Am I eligible for reservation? Yes. You will be considered for allotment of seats under S/G in the order of merit.
75. I belong to Anglo Indian Community; I want to claim the benefit of reservation. Which certificate I should submit to claim the same? You have to produce a certificate on the specified date to KEA, issued by registered Association of Anglo Indian Community in the State of Karnataka counter signed by Anglo Indian MLA nominated by the Government.
76. I belong to Ex‐defence clause ‘h’. Is it necessary that the Ex‐defence certificate is counter signed by the Director? It should be counter signed by the Director, Department of Sainik Welfare and re‐settlement, Bangalore.
77. I have participated in all India Thal Sainik Camp in 10th standard and having ‘B’ certificate with me. Am I eligible for NCC reservation? Yes. You have to produce the required document on a specified date in the brochure to KEA.
78. I am having NCC ‘A’ Certificate. I am appearing for NCC ‘B’ certificate Exam. Am I eligible for NCC reservation? No. If you have completed NCC ‘B’ certificate, then only you are eligible.

79. I have a Certificate from a Government Doctor, showing that the percentage of disability is more than 40%. Is it necessary to appear before the Committee of Doctors in KEA? Yes. You can also show the certificate that you are having, to the Committee of Doctors.
80. I belong to 2A Category, in which format I have to submit my category certificate? Candidates belonging to 2A category should submit the category certificate in the form ‘F’ in the computerized format.
81. I have studied from 1st standard to 10th standard in a Rural area, which has now been converted into an urban area. Am I eligible to claim the benefit of reservation in Rural? If you have studied 1st to 10th standard in your place before the date of notification as urban area then you are eligible.
82. I am residing in Tamil Nadu. My Son is studying in 11th and 12th standard in Karnataka. I have studied 12 years in Karnataka. Am I eligible for CET‐2012? Yes. Your Son is eligible under clause ‘b’.
83. I am a Hornadu Kannadiga Candidate. Do I need to submit the photocopies of the documents under clause ‘c’ as in the web? Yes. You have to produce the photocopies of all the documents compulsorily, when you appear for Kannada language examination.
84. I am a student, native of Orissa studying in 12th standard in CBSE School at Bangalore and my reservation category is ‘SC ’. How much DD I have to submit to the school to procure the brochure cum application? If you possess a certificate of reservation issued from the jurisdictional Tahsildar from Karnataka then you can submit the DD as per the notification.
85. I am a retired Central Government Employee from Karnataka. My daughter has passed the 12th standard from M.P. Am I eligible for CET? If you have studied 7 years in Karnataka, declared your Home Town as a place in Karnataka and transferable anywhere in India, then you are eligible under clause ‘j’.
86. I am a defence employee from Karnataka. My Son is studying 12th standard in Agartala. Under which clause of eligibility I come under? You come under eligibility clause ‘f’, if you have declared any place as home town in Karnataka at the time of joining the service.

87. I am working in Canara Bank. I am from Rajasthan. My Son is studying in 12th standard. Am I eligible for Government seat? If you are transferable anywhere in India as per terms and conditions of employment and worked in Karnataka for a minimum period of one year, then you are eligible under clause ‘I’.
88. I am a Horanadu Kannadiga belonging to Scheduled Caste. Can I avail the benefit of reservation? No. You can claim the seat only under General Merit.
89. I am a Gadinadu Kannadiga belonging to Scheduled Tribe. Can I avail the benefit of reservation? No. You can claim the seat only under General Merit.
90. I am a Defence personnel belonging to Tamil Nadu, working in Karnataka. I belong to Agamudi caste, which comes under Category‐1 in Karnataka and my Son is studying in MES College, I come under clause ‘e’. Am I eligible for the benefit of reservation? No. You cannot claim benefit of reservation.
91. I am a General Merit Candidate studying in Rural Area, where my parents Income are less than 2.00lakhs. Which certificate I have to produce to claim the benefit of Rural reservation? You can produce an Income Certificate or a non‐creamy layer certificate issued from the Jurisdictional Tahsildar.
91. What is the syllabus for CET? It is based 1st and 2nd PUC syllabus prescribed by the Department of Pre‐University Education of Karnataka State.
92. Does CET Evaluation involve negative scoring? No. It does not involve any negative scoring.
93. Is there a blue print for CET question paper? No.
94. In Physics and Chemistry is there any limit on the number of numerical problem? No.

Frequently Asked Questions regarding Online seat allotment
1. I do not know anything about computers, how do I fill my options?
Every candidate is supposed to know the basic working of a computer, however even for those who are not familiar with computer system, training will be provided after verification of the documents at the online help centers on “how to key in the options” detailing the step by step process to log on to the computer, open the home page, click the options given on the right hand side for “entry of options” and enter the password. The option form will be automatically opened and you can start keying the options.
2. How do I key my options?
Detailed instructions giving step by step method of keying the options will be hosted on the KEA website. An interactive hand book CD will be given to you when you come for document verification which will help you to monitor the entire process. Please read the same and follow all the instructions. Basically the candidate has to log on to the KEA website, open the Home page looks out for the links for entry of options. Upon entering his CET No. form will open up which shows the option form. The candidate has to log in his password and confirm that he has logged in the correct password. Upon entering the same, the form will be displayed showing the option number, name of the college, course etc. Simultaneously the cutoff ranks for previous year and also the seat matrix links will also have to be opened, so that the student gets a clear idea about the availability of seats and the probable college he may get based on previous year’s cutoff rank.
The candidate will first have to select his options and college and courses and write it down in a separate sheet of paper. Then the online allotment form has to be opened and the options written on the paper is to be copied on the online form. After completion the candidate has to save the options and then afterwards click the send button which sends the option to KEA server and then logout.
3. Can I change my options at any time? Yes, you can change your options as many times as possible but before the last date and time of the entry of options is over. After the last date and time the options given will be frozen and no further changes can be made in that particular round.
4. I do not have internet facility in my house? How do I login? The Online allotment presumes that every computer is internet enabled. However if internet facilities are not available or the electricity is not available the candidate can go to the helpline center or go to the nearest browsing center for logging the options.

5. Since the allotment takes place in our absence how does one ensure that the allotment is fair, correct and transparent? The entire process of allotment is controlled by sophisticated software and high‐end computers which examine minutely the options given by the candidates for allotment of the best possible seats as per the rank and the options given. The stage by stage allotment done by the computers is explained in the brochure and the student can virtually track the process of allotment at every stage. KEA is known for its motto “Trust Through Total Transparency” and hence the allotment of seats will be only as per the rank and options given. This is a worldwide practice in vogue and there are no complaints about such allotments anywhere in India. This system is being followed in Andhra Pradesh, NITK, Surathkal, Delhi, Chandigarh and is a safe sure and perfect method of allotment of seats.
6. What is my position if I do not give any options? The allotment of seats depends upon the options given by the candidates. If no options are given no allotment will be done in that particular round for eg., if no options were given in Admission Round then no allotment will take place in Admission Round. The candidate will be at liberty to give his options in the category round or casual vacancy round.
7. What do I do if the seat allotted to me is not to my satisfaction? In such cases you have three options. Either you can retain the seat and give fresh options in the next round. In this case the seat will remain with you and will be changed only if better options available are allotted. If you are totally unsatisfied you can surrender the seat to KEA and give fresh options in the next round. In this case the seat goes back to the seat matrix and will be available for all in the next round.
8. I am interested in Medical and Engineering also, how should I give my options? You have to first decide whether you prefer medical or engineering. If your choice is medical then priority will have to be given for medical options. In such cases the engineering options may be placed below the medical options. The computer will first scrutinize all medical options and allot any medical seat available as per the rank and choice. If no medical seat is available then the engineering options will be taken up.
9. I am interested only in Medical, should I give Engineering options also? Not necessary. You can concentrate only on Medical seats.
10. What would be the consequences if I don’t report to the college or inform the KEA after a seat is allotted to me? A candidate should report to the college and inform KEA about it. The colleges are also supposed to inform KEA about the admission of the students to the college. In case a candidate does not report to the college nor inform the KEA such seats will be presumed to be vacant after

the last date for report to the college is over, and this seat will be added to the seat matrix for allotment in the next round. Kindly see the choices available in the CET—2012 brochure for details.
11. What will happen if new colleges and courses are added after selection of a seat in the admission round? All seats falling vacant, newly added seats in new colleges and additional seats in new colleges will be added to the seat matrix in the causal vacancy round and candidates can give fresh options in the casual vacancy round which will be considered.
12. Can we enter options for all the disciplines at a time or separate entries have to be made for each discipline. Candidates have to enter the options in the prescribed format. The format will be made available to all the candidates. Even in the brochure also the format is printed. Candidates have to enter all the options and for all courses at once to which the candidate is eligible and wants to be considered for Medical / Dental / Engineering. For Eg. If he / she wishes to be considered for all options then all should be entered in that format only. Medical, Dental, Engineering options should be entered in the same format only. First option may be Medical, Second may be Engineering, Third one may be again Medical and so on. However all option need to be keyed in before last date and time.
13. How many numbers of options we have to enter? Is there any minimum or maximum fixed? Candidates can enter as many numbers of options as they like to enter. It is better to enter more number of options to avoid disappointment. Before entering the options candidates have to prepare a chart of their choice and start entering.
14. What is meant by options? Option means the candidate’s choice of college / colleges and course / courses. The Computer will allot the seat in the order rank and the options given by the candidates. If the seat is available for the first option then the seat will be allotted to the first option. The computer will not go further to verify the other options. Once the seat is allotted as per the candidate’s option the candidate will not have any hold on the other options entered by him / her.
15. How do I know which seat I may get and where I will stand? For the benefit of the students, previous years cut off ranks is updated on the KEA website http://kea.kar.nic.in Candidates can study and identify the colleges and courses which they may get. But the cutoff ranks are only for the information and no inference shall be drawn for allotment of seats for this year. The choice of the college purely depends on the candidate merit and options.

16. Is it necessary to come to helpline centre for entry of options? No. Candidate can enter the options either through the Helpline Centres established by KEA across the state or they can enter the options on their own arrangement.
17. What is to be done after the allotment of details hosted on the website? The allotment details of all the candidates who have been allotted seats will be hosted on the website. The candidate’s has to download the allotted details. At this stage candidate will have three choices to opt. The brochure also has further details on this. They are
Choice 1: Satisfied with the allotted seat and candidate is willing to report to the allotted college, therefore candidate will not be considered for further allotment of seats in any subsequent round for any discipline. Such candidates should pay the prescribed fees by downloading the allotted details in the Helpline Centres, obtain the admission order and report to the college.
Provided that the candidate who has paid the fees and obtained the Admission
Order and fails to report to the College on or before the last date and time
specified by KEA in the Admission Order, for such candidates no extension of
time will be given and the allotment made in his favour shall be treated as
Cancelled and he / she has no claim further on such allotment and they will not
be considered for allotment of seats in the subsequent round. Such seats shall
revert back to the pool and fee paid by them will be forfeited.
Implication: Not eligible to participate in the subsequent round.
Choice2: Satisfied with the allotted seat but wishes to participate in the next round with fresh options. If fresh options gets allotted then earlier allotted seat get cancelled automatically OR if fresh options seats are not allotted then earlier allotted seat shall remain in candidates favour. Implication: Eligible to participate in the subsequent round keeping the seat
allotted on hold till he gets fresh options.
Choice3: Not satisfied with allotted seat but wishes to consider in the next round with fresh options by surrendering the allotted seat.
Implication: Eligible to participate in the subsequent round with fresh options but
no hold on the allotted seat.

18. In how many days I have to go and report to the colleges? A time gap of seven days will be given to candidates to report to the colleges. Please refer to the brochure for details.
19. I have already allotted Engineering seat under NCC quota in the first round, now I am interested in Medical, whether I have to enter options afresh or the earlier entered options will hold good for this round also. Candidate has to enter the options afresh in each round. The options entered by the candidate will be frozen for that round.
20. I have been allotted a seat in Engineering for my option number 11. But I have wrongly entered my options. The option number fifteen should be considered as 10th one. So what am I supposed to do? After allotment of seats a time gap of 10 days will be given to all the candidates. This 10 days includes, seven days of joining time, if you wishes to joining the college if he is not interest to join the college to key in his fresh options for the second round and also to inform the KEA as to whether he would be joining the college or wishes to considered for the next round. If the candidate is interested in joining the college he may visit the college get first hand information about the faculty, courses offered, hostel facilities etc. Before the commencement of 2nd round every candidate has to enter the options afresh to be considered for allotment of seats in the second round. Therefore, you can change the order of options only during the 2nd round and no further changes will be allowed. Hence please be very careful while entering the options.
21. I have been allotted a seat in Engineering but my qualification marks are changed after the allotment. What am I supposed to do and how to communicate to KEA? Send all the details to KEA email: keauthority‐[email protected] and also to KEA office in person with all the documents. After verifying all the details KEA will take necessary action.
22. I have attended Bangalore helpline for verification of documents, Can I go to Mysore helpline centre for entry of options or is it necessary that options should be entered only in Bangalore. Options may be entered from any helpline centre or on the candidates own arrangement.
23. What is meant by Online entry of options? Candidate has to enter his / her options to be consider for allotment of a seat. This option may be entered in the helpline centres or on their own arrangements.

24. After allotment where I have to see the allotted details? The details of allotments made in respect of all the candidates will be hosted on the website of KEA http://kea.kar.nic.in and also on the notice boards of help line centres.
25. I have not been allotted any seat in the first round? What I have to do? Please wait for the second round of allotment. You can exercise your options afresh based on the seats available.
26. Since there is no face to face counseling whom do I have to contact for clarification regarding entry of options and other issues. Candidates can contact KEA over telephone. Once the process of document verification starts Helpline will be established in KEA office for all queries and distress calls; further candidate can also send their questionnaires to KEA e‐mail keauthority‐[email protected] All your queries will be attended on day to day basis. Or you can visit any nearest helpline centre and clarify the doubts.
27. In the brochure it is said that the documents to be verified in any helpline centre, on the notified dates, what does it mean? After the declaration of the result KEA will publish the complete schedule for verification of documents. The schedule contains the date, time, rank ranges and other information’s regarding the documents. The candidate has to compulsorily verify their original documents on the specified date and time.
28. What are the documents required for verification? Please read the brochure – verification of documents – and also refer Item – 6 of Chapter‐1 of brochure where in under each eligibility the documents to be produced by the candidates is detailed.
29. Does the entry of options be done on the same day for all candidates? After verification of documents, schedule will be published in the newspapers by giving the date and time. Candidates can enter the options in any helpline centres or on their own arrangement before the last date mentioned.
30. Is there any minimum entries required to be entered for consideration of allotment? There is no minimum entries fixed for entry of options. But it is advised to the candidates to enter more number of options to avoid disappointment of not getting any seat.
31. How many times I can change the options? Candidate can change the options as many number of times they want before the last date prescribed for entry of options.

32. Can I enter my options sitting in my home? Yes, candidate can enter options either through any helpline centres or on their own arrangement.
33. If I loose my verification slip after verification what shall I do? Please contact the helpline centre where you have verified your documents. It is an important document which may be required for all other future work.
34. What is the order I have to follow while entering the options? Here you have to be very cautious. The computer will allot the seat in the order of merit and based on the priority of options. When your turn comes the computer will search for the first option, if seat is available it will allot or it will search for the next option. Like that the computer will search and allot the available seats to the candidate in the order of merit based on the options. Even if the candidate wanted the 40th option and if seat is available for the 39th option, then the computer will allot the seats to the 39th option. Therefore, the candidate will not get the 40th option. Hence, it is advised to enter all the options working out your priority list first.
35. Where can I take the print out of the entry of options? The print out of the entered options may be collected from any help line centres or on their own arrangement after the last date and time of entry of options.
36. I belong to reserved category, but seat is allotted under GM – give explanation. Any reserved category candidate is eligible for allotment of seats under General Merit category. The computer will first allot the seats under General Merit if seats are available as per the merit order, if seats are not available then search for the respective reserved category.
37. Can registration of a student be done by others in the absence of a candidate? Candidate is compulsory for registration and verification of documents.
38. How do I ensure that my choice list will not be altered by others? It is strictly advised to the candidates that the User ID and Passwords should not be revealed to others so that it leads to tampering of options. As per the security measures adopted by KEA only candidate can change the options by entering the login and password.
39. How much time will I get to complete the entry of options? Entry of options means selecting a seat on your own. Naturally one has to require minimum two to three hours to enter. But it is advised that before entering the options it is better to do some preparatory work. Write the options on a sheet of white paper. Do the permutations and combinations as per your rank and aptitude for courses. Therefore, if you are ready with the handwritten copy of your options, not much time is required to enter for eg.

Afterwards, whenever you find time you can login and enter your engineering options. Similarly you can do so for the other options. Provided that the entire options are in sequential order and all the options have to be entered before the last date given for entry of options. Once the last date is over the options given will be frozen and no further addition or deletion will be allowed in that particular round. For example if you do not have time you can enter medical options say option number 1 , 2 and so on. Whenever you find time you can enter the Engineering options but you have to be careful in giving the priority. For instance your first option may be Medical, second option may be Medical, third option may be Engineering and fourth option may be Architecture, you are now entering Medical or Engineering options now and later on when you find time login for other options. In this case suppose your Engineering option is number 3 then you will again have to open option form and insert Engineering as third option.
This will mean that if you had given third option as Medical have now decided to give third option as Engineering, then you will have to insert the third option as Engineering. In such cases the third option that was medical in the first instance will automatically become the fourth option after such insertion. You may change the sequence and priority of the options given by you any number of times till the last date is over.
