PCH and Mercer Medical GroupWelcome Dr. Amanda H. BaileyA native of Princeton, West Virginia, Amanda H. Bailey D.O., hasreturned to her hometown to join Mercer Medical Group where shewill establish a family medicine practice.

Dr. Bailey is board certified by the American Osteopathic Board ofFamily Physicians. She received her medical degree from the WestVirginia School of Osteopathic Medicine (Lewisburg, West Virginia)in 2006, and completed her residency at Altoona Regional HealthSystem and Altoona Family Physicians (Altoona, Pennsylvania).

Dr. Bailey is a veteran of the United States Air Force and priorrecipient of the Air Force Health Professions Scholarship. She wasstationed at Maxwell Air Force Base (Montgomery, Alabama) from2009 to 2012 and was promoted to the rank of Major. As a familyphysician, she provided health care for active duty personnel, theirdependents, and military retirees.

Dr. Bailey took part in two international humanitarian missions during her service with the Air Force – one to Peruand the other to Suriname, South America. In both cases, she and her team provided care to patients with limitedor no access to health care and medications. Dr. Bailey is decorated with many distinctions including the Air ForceMeritorious Service Medal.

“It is my hope to provide quality care to area residents as their family physician. I am also looking forward tobecoming part of the community in which I grew up,” Dr. Bailey said. “There are no age restrictions for mypatients. I accept all patients from newborns to seniors,” she added.

Dr. Bailey received her undergraduate degree in biology from Concord University (2002) and is a graduate ofPrinceton Senior High School (1999). She is the daughter of Cecilia “Kay” (Hamm) Bailey and the late John W.Bailey. Dr. Bailey is engaged to Curt A. Polito, Esq., an attorney practicing international law in China.

PCH and The Orthopaedic Center of the Virginias WelcomeDr. Robert PenningtonRobert Pennington, M.D., board certified by the American Board ofOrthopaedic Surgeons in General Orthopaedics and OrthopaedicSports Medicine, has joined the Orthopaedic Center of the Virginias inPrinceton, West Virginia.

Dr. Pennington is one of only 14 orthopaedic surgeons in West Virginiawho is certified in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine, and the only one in theregion.

He received his medical degree from Marshall University School ofMedicine, Huntington, West Virginia, and completed general surgerytraining and his orthopaedic residency at the Medical University ofSouth Carolina, Charleston, South Carolina.

Dr. Pennington has been in private practice in North Carolina since1997. He is a member of the American Academy of OrthopaedicSurgeons, Arthroscopy Association of North America, AmericanCollege of Sports Medicine, and state and regional orthopaedicsocieties.

Dr. Pennington’s interests include advanced arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, elbow, wrist, knee and ankle, as wellas fracture care for children, adolescents, and adults. His interests in clinical practice include treating athletes of allages with proven surgical techniques and minimally invasive procedures.

While in North Carolina, Dr. Pennington had an active presence in the community where he served as a sponsor andcoach for basketball and soccer teams. He also provided field medical coverage for area soccer and football teams.

Dr. Robert Pennington brings over 15 years of innovative orthopaedic surgical experience and leading edge technicalprocedures to the people of southern West Virginia and southwest Virginia.

The physicians of the Orthopaedic Center of the Virginias extend a welcome to Dr. Pennington. They are: Darrell C. Belcher, M.D.; PhilipJ. Branson, M.D.; Robert P. Kropac, M.D.; Frederick B. Morgan, D.O.; and Gregory Southers, P.A.

Women’s Expo Draws Thousands and PCH is There

This year’s hospital display took on a classical garden theme. Phyllis Mikels (below) created the stunning floral arrangements.

Princeton Community Hospital distributed thousands of giftitems, hospital literature, and hundreds of free flu vaccines to thewomen and their families who attended the 11th annual Women’sExpo October 26 and 27 at the Brushfork National Guard Armory.

The hospital once again hosted the Women’s Expo CorporateLuncheon, an event that attracts professional women fromthroughout the region. This year’s featured speaker for theluncheon was Deborah L. Copeland, a successful businesswomanwho described herself as “a survivor, educator, philanthropist,author, life coach, motivator, wife, and mother.”

PCH and The Pavilion WelcomeDr. Kerry L. Musick

PCH Volunteers Donate Blanket Warmer and Bed Hardware

A native of New Mexico and Texas, Kerry L. Musick, M.D., earnedhis medical degree in psychiatry from Texas Tech University HealthSciences Center School of Medicine, Lubbock, Texas. He completedhis residency at the same university with an emphasis on the bio-psycho-social factors of psychiatric diseases.

Prior to attending medical school, Dr. Musick worked as a certifiedpublic accountant and partner in two CPA firms in Brownfield, Texas.

Dr. Musick and his family moved to Bluefield, West Virginia, inOctober 2012, when he joined the medical staff at The BehavioralHealth Pavilion of the Virginias.

“We have been extremely impressed by the friendliness andhelpfulness of the people in this area,” Dr. Musick said. “We werefortunate enough to arrive here in October just as the autumn leaveswere at their peak. The fall colors were something we had neverexperienced before. It certainly is a gorgeous place!”

Dr. Musick and his wife, a writer, are both interested in history and have enjoyed discovering the many historicsites in West Virginia and Virginia. They have eight children, five of whom moved with them. The other threeremained in Texas where they have careers. The children are enrolled at Bluefield High School, Bluefield MiddleSchool, and Brushfork Elementary.

Dr. Musick is looking forward to settling into this beautiful part of the country and to meeting the needs of thepatients at The Behavioral Health Pavilion of the Virginias.
