The Palladium hallmark

On the 22nd July 2009 amendments to the UK Hallmarking Act were finally approved which enabled the Assay offices in the UK to hallmark Palladium. The hallmark was voluntary until the 31st December 2009, becoming compulsory on the 1st January 2010.

The success of Palladium over the past two years has exceeded all expectations. The ring has become a real alternative white metal for both men and women and we anticipate that sales will grow further as the UK hallmark is now available.

We have introduced a brand new range of medium weight Courts and E-Fits alongside extra widths. 2, 7 and 8mm have been added to the existing heavy weight range of Courts, Flats and E-Fits.

There are three recognised fineness standards for Palladium which are 500 parts per thousand, 950 parts per thousand and 999 parts per thousand.

The 950 fineness is thought to be the most widely used.

Two of the fineness standards match Platinum - 950 & 999, however the shape of the surrounds are different.

A voluntary traditional mark depicts Pallas Athene, Goddess of War, Wisdom and Craft after whom Palladium was named.
