Exact gauge is not essential to this project.

STITCH EXPLANATION:

kfb (knit into front and then back) An increase worked as follows:1. Knit the next st through the front loop, but do not remove the st from your left hand needle. 2. Knit the same st once more, this time inserting your needle through the back loop of the st. You willhave created 2 loops (sts) on your right hand needle.3. Drop the st from your left hand needle – you have increased 1 st.

French KnotThread needle and bring from back to front through knitted piece. Wrap yarn around needle 3 times, insertneedle back into knitted piece close to where it emerged. Tighten knot.

1. Teddy is worked flat, then seamed and stuffed. 2. Arms, legs and ears are worked separately, then sewn on.3. When you see "– 12 sts" in the instructions, this tells you how many sts you should have at the end ofthat specific row.

HEAD/BODYWith A, cast on 48 sts.Rows 1­3: Knit.Change to B.Rows 4­6: Knit.Change to C.Rows 7­9: Knit.Change to D.Rows 10­12: Knit.Change to E.Rows 13­15: Knit.Change to A.Rows 16­45: Rep Rows 1­15.Change to F.Rows 46­55: Beg with a RS (knit) row, work in St st.Row 56: *K2tog, k2; rep from * across – 36 sts.Rows 57 and 59: Purl.Row 58: *K2tog, k1; rep from * across – 24 sts.Row 60: *K2tog; rep from * across – 12 sts.Row 61: P2tog across – 6 sts.Cut yarn, leaving a long yarn tail. Thread yarn tail through rem sts, pull to gather, and knot securely. Leave rem yarntail for sewing.

ARM AND LEGS (make 4) With G, cast on 10 sts.Rows 1­9: Beg with a WS (purl) row, work in St st.Row 10: *K2tog; rep from * to end of row – 5 sts.Cut yarn, leaving a long yarn tail. Thread yarn tail through rem sts, pull to gather, and knot securely. Leave rem yarntail for sewing.

EARS (make 2) With G, cast on 4 sts.Row 1: Knit.Row 2: Kfb, k2, kfb – 6 sts.Rows 3­6: Knit.Row 7: *K2tog; rep from * to end of row – 3 sts.Bind off, leaving a long yarn tail for sewing.

FINISHING Fold body piece in half to determine placement of eyes.Following package directions, apply eyes.Seam sides of Head/Body, then stuff firmly before sewing cast on edge flat.Seam side edges of arms and legs, then sew to Teddy. Sew ears to top of head. Using colors as desired, embroider astraight st nose and mouth.Weave in ends.
