Thank you also to those who have completed or will be completing parent surveys at the end of each

of our exit years – Year 2 (end of Early Learning), Year 6 (end of Primary schooling), Year 7 (end of Transition) and Year 12 (end of Secondary schooling). We learn a great deal from these surveys and take the feedback seriously.

MESSAGE FROM THE HEAD OF PRIMARY - MEADOW SPRINGS

Dear Parents and Caregivers

The 2019 school year has been an extremely busy and productive year for the Meadow Springs Primary campus and it is hard to believe that in less than two weeks it will be over for another year. As we draw to a close, we have a number of events in the coming week or so and I hope that many community members can join us to celebrate the year that was.

Next week, I am looking forward to ‘Carols in the Quad’ as an opportunity to come together as a community to celebrate the spirit of Christmas and to share fellowship at this time of the year. Last year, it was a very special event and I am sure it will be again.

OnTuesday10December,yourchild’sreportwillbeavailablethroughSEQTA Engage and will be visible after 4.30pm. Next week, information regarding the reports and how to access SEQTA Engage will be sent home for your information so you can ensure that you are set up before the reports are issued.

In regard to class placements for 2020, a letter informing you of your child’s class and teacher will be sent home with your child on the last day of school. Students will have their class list read to them before they leave on this day.

Booklists have now been sent home with the students for the 2020 school year. Please follow the instructions to place your online orders or purchase supplies from a supplier of your choice. In purchasing supplies, I ask that the recommended stationery is purchased and not fancy merchandised items that can often be more of a distraction to learning than a help. Pencil cases needtobeofthesizerecommendedtofitintothestoragetrayssuppliedforhousing personal belongings so it is appreciated if you could please consider this when making your purchasing choices.

I look forward to seeing many families over the coming week as we wrap up another successful year of schooling for our students.

Kind regards

MESSAGE FROM THE HEAD OF PRIMARY - HALLS HEAD

Dear Parents The end of term is quickly approaching, and we are looking forward to our end of year events. We hope that our families will be able to attend ourtwofinalassemblies, whichincludetheKindergarten to Year 2 Christmas assembly on Friday 6 December at 1:30pm, as well as our combined Year 3 to 6 Presentation assembly and Thanksgiving service, on Tuesday 10 December at 9:00am. I know that these events will be a lovely way to end the school year, and look forward to seeing all of the families that can attend.

Junior CouncilOnThursday21NovemberIhadthepleasureofattendingtheJuniorCouncilgraduationattheMandurahOffshoreFishing&SailingClub.EuanLairdandMatildaPadfieldhaveparticipatedintheJuniorCouncilprogrammeallyearand have certainly developed their leadership skills and knowledge of local government. Both Euan and Matilda gave graduation speeches and represented the school well. I was impressed with their maturity and courage, as the room was filledwithfamiliesandguests. Euan and Matilda have been involved in planning and attending community events and initiatives throughout the year. Their involvement with the Beach Clean Up initiative, as well as the Kids Teaching Kids conference were important events for our local youth and community. We recognise the commitment and work that Euan and Matilda have done this year and look forward to giving this same opportunity to two new students in 2020. Attached are photographs of Euan and Matilda with our local mayor, Mr Rhys Williams, at the graduation ceremony.

ChoirOnTuesday26November,thechoirperformedatMercyPlace,aresidentialagedcare facility. The choir performed beautifully and their carols were well received by the residents. I want to recognise the maturity and responsibility that our students demonstrated on the day, as they all represented the school wonderfully. I wouldalsoliketothankMissVerityBrockmanforallofher work, organisation and passion with the choir. Ourchoirissuchawonderfulopportunityforourstudents to express themselves and engage with music. We hope to continue our partnership with Mercy Place for years to come, as we genuinely love the community connection that our students have made with the residents. MESSAGE FROM THE SCHOOL CHAPLAIN

Dear Parents and Caregivers

A Christmas story, author unknown and edited.

An elderly widow decided it was too much trouble to get all of her kids and grandkids Christmas presents, so she decided to send them a cheque with a card. A few days after she mailed all the cards, she discovered she had forgotten to include the checks in the cards. Imagine all those kids opening a card from grandma with a note inside that says, “Buy your own presents.”

It says, sometimes, take a little more time to be prepared; especially at Christmas. In fact, I want to announce;itistimetoprepareforChristmas!

Time to put up the tree, check the lights and hang the wreath. Time to dig out the decorations to put in the house and on the lawn. Time to order the ham and the crayfish, buytheLionsChristmasCake, hangthestockingsandfillthemup.Timeto write the letter to Santa, shop for gifts, wrap the presents, attach the tags and put on the bows. Time to address the cards, send the cards, receive the cards from people you haven’t heard from all year. Time to make plans for the out of town trip, time to welcome the kids and their families back home. It’s time to get ready for Christmas.

As of Monday 25 November, you have 30 days to prepare for Christmas Day, 2019. It’s not time to panic yet, but it is time to start making preparations. But I wonder, with all the preparation going on, will you take time to prepare your heart for Christmas this year? So often, Christmas becomes a bother instead of a blessing; full of headaches instead of hallelujahs, all because we fail to heed the wordsspokenbytheprophetinIsaiah40:3…preparethewayfortheLORD;makestraight in the wilderness a highway for our God.

ThosewordswerefulfilledintheministryofJohntheBaptist, andthey’renottalkingabout a construction project, but a preparation of the heart to welcome the Lord Jesus. Christmas celebrates the birth of the Christ-child, God’s greatest gift to the world. Make way for the celebration of Jesus’ birth in your Christmas preparation this year.

God Bless
