1996 Leavers

Israel Carmody (95 – 96) continues to teach English in the Secondary School at Frederick Irwin.

1997 Leavers

Rafer Gluyas (96 – 97) is a geophysical software developer for DUG. His daughter started at

PCACS this year which was exciting. He is still enjoying Perth and family life; only really misses being

on the road once in a while.

1998 Leavers

Robin Anderson (94 – 98) is working as an Environmental Consultant specialising in contaminated

land investigations for a firm based in Subiaco. Robin got married in April 2015.

Bronwyn Cameron (91 – 98) is in her seventh year as the Senior Dental Hygienist at a specialist

periodontal practice in Toorak, Melbourne. Bronwyn is planning her wedding for early 2017, finishing

a renovation on an investment property and preparing for the arrival of her first child in April 2016.

Heather Walters (97 – 98) recently moved back to Australia after living in Papua New Guinea for

just over three years. Her three children are adjusting to living in Australia and are loving their

acreage. Once Heather has finished renovating two of their properties she will then look at re-

entering the workforce.

1999 Leavers

Cheree Appleton (nee Evans) (93 – 99) is a Manager at ‘Snooze’, the bed shop. She has two

children, Levi (5) and Shiloh (3). Levi attends Frederick Irwin Anglican School and Shiloh starts in

2016.

Megan Barry (nee Stallard) (91 – 99) moved to Melbourne in 2014 and was married in

September2015 to her partner of eight years. She is studying graphic design at RMIT and working as

a project manager in the construction industry. Megan remains close friends with a couple of ex-

students.

Kenneth Crabbe (95 – 99) is teaching Health, Physical and Outdoor Education at Harvey Senior

High School. In September he got married and expecting their first child in December 2015.

Shauntel Grove (95 – 99) has started a business with her partner in Mandurah called ‘It Happens

Life’. They give advice on Life, Trauma and TPD Insurance as well as income and protection and

business insurance. This includes doing Superannuation consolidation.

Tegan Jones (91 – 99) has been living in London for just under five (5) years and is currently

working as an in-house lawyer. Tegan still keeps in contact with some former students.

2000 Leavers

Rebecca Cutten (1996 – 00) runs the family real estate agency in Rockingham, Nobel Real Estate,

and is the current Chairman of the Rockingham/Kwinana branch of REIWA. Rebecca moved to Silver

Sands a few years ago and thinks it’s the best decision she has ever made. She loves the beach

lifestyle and being so close to her friends. Rebecca still keeps in close contact with several former

students.

Michelle Hitchcock (nee Strachan) (96 – 00) is currently working at Ross and Galloway Property

in the Property Management Department. She is also studying a Diploma of Property Services

(Agency Management). Michelle recently married and has two children, Ethan (5) and Ava (2) who

she said are ‘gorgeous’.

Devin Kelly (91 – 00) and Samantha Kelly (nee Hunt) (92 – 00) are currently enjoying the

country life in Tom Price. Devin is a metallurgist working for Rio Tinto and Samantha is a stay at

home mum to four children, Damon (9), Mia (6), Zach (4) and Alyssa (3).

Kym Matthews (nee van Stekelenburg) (96 – 00) is currently working part-time as a Speech

Pathologist at Fremantle Child Development Centre. She is a trained Autism Spectrum Disorder

Diagnostician and really enjoys this aspect of her job. Kym loves being a mum to her three year old

daughter, Shaela, and is finding her up close experience of observing normal speech and language

development really fascinating.

Kristan Smith (96 – 00) lives near the City of Perth and is a Risk Management Consultant at the

Water Corporation. She recently completed a Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy.

Kristan aims to open an after-hours practice. Kristan is engaged and getting married in early 2016.

Nikki McNally (nee Brosnan) (1996 – 00) after completing a BA in Literature and History, then a

Graduate Diploma of Education, Nikki has taken a position teaching High School English at a school in

Rockingham. When Nikki isn’t working she is busy raising three daughters, Lorelei, Freya and Xanthe

with her husband Dane.

2001 Leavers

Ben Addison (96 – 01) is working as an Aviation Medical Officer contracted to the ADF in

Bullsbrook and Swanbourne in Western Australia. He is married with two children, William (4) and

Piper (2).

Stacey Cole (97 – 01) has taken a break (perhaps indefinitely) from working as a family law

solicitor for several years to raise her daughter Zavia, who turned four in December 2015. Stacey

runs her own copywriting and marketing business from home while caring for her daughter.

Brenton Reed (93 – 01) is a Rail Network Coordinator at BHP Billiton in Port Headland. He got

married in 2014, built a house locally and became a father to a baby girl in 2015.

Natalie Rogalski (93 – 01) is currently working as a physiotherapist at APPI Hampstead and the

English National Ballet Company. Natalie visits home regularly and is still in contact with a fair few

former students.

Trinity Townsend (98 – 01) is currently working at Edith Cowan University’s South West campus in

Bunbury and is still living in Meadow Springs.

2002 Leavers

Leonard Bloomfield (98 – 02) is still working as an Environmental Advisor for Rio Tinto at the

Marandoo mine site in the Pilbara.

Adam Hill (93 – 02) is completing a Masters of Business through the University of New South

Wales and is working in Sydney in the Australian Army. At the time of writing Adam was planning on

hiking the Kokoda Track in November 2015. Adam has played at St Andrews Old Course.

David Howorth (98 – 02) after working in the mining industry with MMG Limited for the past nine

years, he has recently accepted an offer to move to Sportsbet in an Analyst role. In May 2014 David

married his fiancé, Eva, in Spain and they continue to live in Melbourne. This year David completed

his CPA studies.

Siôn Jones (91 – 02) is currently living in Perth and working for Silver Chain in their Business

Operations team. Siôn and his wife welcomed their first baby to the world in February 2015, a little

girl named Carys Meg Jones. They are enjoying parenthood and decided to keep the Welsh themed

name like her father!

Sarah Jordan (nee Manassah) (98 – 02) has been a stay at home mum during 2015 following

the birth of her son, Reuben, who was born in November 2014. Sarah has also completed her

Graduate Diploma of Early Childhood Teaching at Macquarie University. Sarah has been busy running

various children’s ministry programs with her husband at their home.

Fletcher Wall (98 – 02) is currently posted to San Diego, California, as an exchange officer with

the US Navy. He is enjoying all the travelling and the new experiences the US brings. Fletcher is

completing a Masters of Project Management with UNSW.

2003 Leavers

Tegan Broadfoot (nee Short) (99 – 03) is living in London with Stuart Broadfoot (01 – 03). He is

working as a lawyer for Clifford Chance in Canary Wharf, London. Tegan is working as a lawyer for a

media specialist commercial and corporate law firm in Soho, London. Tegan and Stuart married in

March 2015 and are expecting their first child in February 2016.

Johan Burmester (Daniel) (02 – 03) is currently working as the general business manager for a

large electrical company specialising in overhead power lines. If all goes well he will start his Masters

in Business Administration degree in 2016. Johan would also like to pursue his pastor studies as he

has given his life to the Lord. Johan is married and has a daughter. Their intentions are to move

back to Australia within the next five to seven years as they consider it to still be the ‘best country in

the world!’

Tamara Combe (nee Masterson) (01 – 03) with her husband, Stephen, welcomed their third

child into the world, Nathanael James, in January 2015. They have relocated from the hustle and

bustle of Sydney to the quiet coastal town of Denham, Shark Bay. They will be spending most of

2016 learning to balance family life and ministry.

Hannah Le Chat (nee Carmody) (97 – 03) is working part-time as a Year 2 teacher at Mandurah

Baptist College. She is mum to three boys, Delon, Denzel and Denham, with the eldest attending

Frederick Irwin and one attending from 2016. Hannah has been married for nine years to Marlon.

Whitney Sewell (02 – 03) has had a great year living close to the beach with her fiancé, Nathan,

and their awesome dog. Whitney has continued working as a horticulturalist for the City of

Rockingham, which she’s enjoyed doing the last four (4) years. Whitney has begun volunteer work

with Greyhound Adoptions WA. Whitney keeps in contact with several former students. Over the

past year she’s had pleasure seeing her friends travel, buy houses, get married and have babies.

Whitney has also been busy planning her wedding, and more importantly, honeymoon to the United

States of America which will take place in 2016.

Julie Squires (99 – 03) for the past four (4) years has worked in West Perth as a superannuation

accountant for the largest independent CPA firm in Western Australia. She enjoys the challenges and

has learnt so much working with mainly farming clients. In September Julie travelled through France

before meeting up with her 80 year Nan and some of her aunts, uncles and cousins in Gibraltar. She

then travelled through Italy and Spain on a cruise and finished with a couple of nights in Barcelona.

In December she returned to Europe for a Top Deck Tour and spent New Year in Scotland, a few

days in the United Kingdom to catch up with family again, then was off to Cortina (near Venice) to be

a bridesmaid at one of her best friend’s wedding. Julie also has the honour of being a bridesmaid for

her longest and dearest friend (also a former student) when she marries (date to be confirmed). Life

is good, busy, challenging, rewarding and fun. Julie is ready to get that little bit busier when she

becomes an aunty for the sixth time. She cannot wait!

2004 Leavers

Sean Archibald (00 – 04) is a full-time dentist working and living in Perth.

Ben Edwards (93 – 04) is a self-employed Insurance Broker as an Authorised Representative of

Marsh Advantage Insurance. His is now living in Albany, Western Australia. Ben became a father for

the second time in November 2015.

Ashley Hogen-Esch (92 – 04) is currently living in Sydney and working FIFO on Barrow Island as a

Field Engineer.

Mark Kouwenhoven (00 – 04) became a dad following the birth of his son, Leo, in April 2015.

Mark is currently working for BHP Billiton based in Perth in the remote operating centre and studying

an MBA at Curtin University in Perth. Mark still catches up with some good friends from school and

goes overseas regularly.

Stephanie Robinson (99 – 04) is a science teacher at Applecross Senior High School. She worked

at Perth Zoo as a zoo keeper from 2005 – 2006 while studying zoology at the University of Western

Australia.

Luke Williams (00 – 04) continues to work as a Pastor at The Billabong Uniting Church in Canning

Vale. He is married to Kerin and enjoyed visiting her family last year in South Carolina and holidaying

in Europe in November.

2005 Leavers

Lisa Bowdin (98 – 05) has returned to university to specialise in pediatric dentistry at the

University of Western Australia. Lisa previously worked as a dentist in Bunbury.

Ester Dawe (03 – 05) was working as a Registered Nurse at the Rockingham Hospital Emergency

Department at the time of writing in June 2015.

Aaron Gibson (01 – 05) has finished his projects and examinations to become a Licensed Surveyor

to further his career in that area.

Jamie Griechen (01 – 05) completed a Masters in Business at RMIT in 2013 and is now working as

a Property Valuer in Melbourne. She moved there three years ago and so far everything is good.

Danika McVea (01 – 05) is studying business administration and working at an accountancy firm in

West Leederville, Perth. She is also fostering dogs for the Perth pound.

Hayley Mutton (01 – 05) is currently in the process of completing her Certificate III in Captive

Animal Husbandry while being a trainee wildlife keeper at Wildlife Habitat in Port Douglas (and

hopefully will soon drop the ‘trainee’ title). Last year Hayley was Acting Park Manager of a predator

park in South Africa for three months and has now recently moved to FNQ with a friend to pursue her

career as a wildlife keeper.

Henry Rooney (95 – 04) is working on Barrow Island for Chevron, carrying out electrical

inspections.

Jarrad Seng (93 – 05) is working as a photographer and filmmaker in the tourism industry as well

as touring with musicians Ed Sheeran and Passenger.

Bernard Smit (01 – 05) studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of Western Australia. He

worked for Worley Parsons for three years as a Graduate Engineer and is now working for

Oceaneering as a Project Engineer, seconded to Conoco Phillips. Bernard remains friends with a

couple of former students and together they attend power cruise events at Barbagallo Raceway most

years.

2006 Leavers

Kymberli Hunter-Browne (nee Kimberley Browne) (96 – 06) is studying a Diploma in Beauty

Therapy at the International School of Beauty Therapy located in Fremantle and feels like she doing

well. Kymberli has started up a home salon located in Baldivis and is also currently trying to raise

awareness of mental health and to stop the stigma behind it. She believes it an important cause that

really should never have needed to exist. There is no shame in being unwell.

In 2005 Kymberli realised she had mental health issues and was too ashamed to talk to anyone

about, even her family and best friend. In 2009 Kymberli was diagnosed with Schitzoaffective

Disorder and has had many ups and downs that lead her to spend time in a Perth Clinic. They have

helped her so many times and looked out for her when she’s been suicidal and hurt herself. She is

not ashamed of it, but really wishes people would understand how life threatening mental illness can

be. She has tried different therapies, medications and combinations. Every day is a battle. Sadly

Kymberli has lost three close friends, one work colleague and her dad’s best friend to suicide. This is

why she takes raising awareness and stopping the stigma behind mental illness so seriously.

Despite the struggles of mental health issues Kymberli has worked with CCI doing an Electrical Fitter

apprenticeship working at Western Power where she was the only female in the workplace. She was

a burlesque fire performer for The Twisted Vaudeville Circus and continues to be a member of Perth

Fire Group and has learnt many circus arts and object manipulations. Kymberli has also had the

privilege of working for Robbie Merritt, Fine Art Photographer, as his Hair and Make Up Artist and

Personal Assistant. He has since become a photographer for World Fashion Week and has mentored

Kymberli through the basics of photography and lighting for five years.

Kymberli achieved Student of the Semester in Diploma of Make Up Services in 2010.

In 2013 Kymberli married the man she says ‘saved her from herself’ and despite recently parting

ways they remain best friends.

Emma Mackenzie (03 – 06) is managing ethical sourcing for Bunnings and looking to complete a

Masters in Corporate Social Responsibility through the University of Melbourne early in 2016. Emma

moved to Melbourne with her partner early in 2014 is they are having a great time exploring Victoria

(minus the weather!) and meeting new people.

Brent Passchier (05 – 06) is currently teaching at Atwell College in Education Support. He has

been living and teaching in Melbourne for the last five years and has purchased a property in

Melbourne where he started his career. At the start of 2015 Brent got married on Mandurah

Foreshore and his wife was expecting the first addition to their family in October 2015.

Brent Rogalski (02 – 06) is commencing his sixth year as Sports Scientist for the West Coast

Eagles Football Club.

Peter Rogers (95 – 06) is currently employed as Governance Officer for Gumala Foundation, a

NGO which alleviates poverty of indigenous people in the Pilbara. He is also finishing studying at

College of Law to become a registered legal practitioner. Peter graduated Murdoch University in 2012

with degrees in Law, Journalism, Public Policy and Politics. He serves on several community

organization boards and is currently elected as a Councillor to the City of Mandurah Council.

Damon Williams (00 – 06) is a dentist at Photogenic Dental and a Youth Pastor at C3 Church,

Crawley.

2007 Leavers

Michael Arena (98 – 07) is currently working as a civil project engineer in land development and

building services in Perth and surrounds. Michael remains in contact with some former students and

is planning to cruise around Western Australia over the summer and travel overseas with a couple, to

celebrate the fact they are still motivated and youthful enough to do so!

Laura Buters (03 – 07) after a second year of haunting the wards of metropolitan hospitals, Laura

will be relocating to the countryside to complete a year of rural medicine, in addition to beginning a

masters degree. Laura remains in contact with a couple of ex-students.

Mark Elliot (00 – 07) is working for himself is his successful business, Elliot Mechanical Pty Ltd.

After eight years of being with his partner, Kasey Martyn (95 – 07), he finally ‘popped’ the question

and they will hopefully be married in late 2016.

Kaden Emery (03 – 07) is now living and working in Sydney. He has a role within Westpac and BT

Financial Group as a Regional Manager. Kaden is thinking of starting his MBA… just when he thought

studying was over! Kaden considers himself lucky to be married to Georgina.

Rachel Halleen (95 – 07) is an accredited Exercise Physiologist at 4 Life Physiotherapy in

Mandurah. Rachel is a member of the Mandurah Magic State Basketball League Women’s Team.

Rhiannon Salisbury (95 – 07) is working at Peter Carnley Anglican Community School as a Junior

School Physical Education Teacher. She also coaches Peel Thunderbirds.

Sara Schaus (03 – 07) is currently working as a Project Coordinator for Construction firm

Brookfield Multiplex in Melbourne. This year Sara refurbished a 32 storey commercial office block and

completed four buildings of student accommodation for Monash University. This year Sara also got

engaged.

Isabelle Stacey (03 – 07) was working full-time for the Department of the Attorney General until

May 2015 when she quit to eat her way through Europe as a nomadic backpacker whilst spreading

the word of the Coeliac. Stacey still owns the Pulsar she bought in 2007.

2008 Leavers

Jaimi Andrews (04 – 08) is working as an occupational therapist in both Mandurah and Perth with

adult home visiting and pediatric services. Jaimi travelled to the United States of America for two

months to volunteer at a waterski summer camp in North Carolina. She also managed to fit in some

coaching for herself for waterskiing in Florida. Jaimi is hoping to do more travelling in 2016 to

Europe, Canada and the United States of America.

Daniel Ayres (1997 – 2008) is currently working at Great Living Homes in the scheduling and

estimating department, also is studying a diploma in building and construction, part-time, externally.

Daniel completed a three year apprenticeship in roof carpentry, followed by a two year diploma in

Christian Ministry. Daniel married in December 2014.

Alison Bowdin (98 – 08) is in her second year studying environmental biology at Curtin University.

She also works on the paint desk in Bunnings, Malaga.

Rex Dubois (04 – 08) is working as an Events Manager, with projects including the Cape to Cape

MTB, Port to Port MTB, South West Craft Beer Festival, John Hughes Slopestyle, South West Mudfest

and Run a Muck. In November 2014 he got engaged to Lisa Rozentals (97 – 08) and moved to

Dunsborough in July 2015. Rex and Lisa are loving the lifestyle down south. In their downtime they

like to catch up with friends (many ex-students from Frederick Irwin). Rex likes to ride down hills on

his mountain bike.

Kristy Havelberg (06 – 08) is currently holding a duel role as a Personal Assistant to the General

Manager Public Relations at Crown Entertainment Complex and a Public Relations Officer at Crown.

Kristy has been employed by Crown since graduating from Curtin University with a Bachelor of

Commerce.

Ryan McRedmond (04 – 08) is working as a student advisor for the School of Economics and

Finance at Curtin University. Ryan played in the SBL for the Rockingham Flames in the 2015 season.

He is also studying his Graduate Diploma in Education as one day he would like to teach in high

schools.

Andrew Perren (96 – 08) graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering and Bachelor of Commerce

from the University of Western Australia. Andrew now works in Perth as a civil engineer in the

railway industry, focusing on asset management of private sidings. He is also currently studying a

Masters of Commercial and Resources Law part-time and is the Western Australia President of

Engineers Without Borders, an NGO with 250 volunteers and 1500 members/supports in Western

Australia.

Ashleigh Punch (96 – 08) completed her medical degree in 2014 and is employed by Royal Perth

Hospital as a doctor (various specialty rotations but currently on the State Major Trauma Unit).

Luke Senior (04 – 08) is a civil engineer working for Leighton Contractors in Perth.

Amanda van der Sluys (04 – 08) continues to live in Sydney, working at Toyota Motor

Corporation Australia in sales strategy. She became a registered yoga teacher in early 2015 and has

been teaching during her free time. Amanda is looking to continue her studies in yoga and health

and sharing her knowledge with others in the future.

2009 Leavers

Steven Arena (97 – 09) completed a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Science (MBBS) at the

University of Western Australia. He has been contracted to commence work as a Medical Intern at

Fiona Stanley Hospital in 2016. Steven remains in contact with several former students.

Rebecca Bailey (97 – 09) is still studying. She is in her fifth year of medicine and looking forward

to her final year in 2016. Rebecca is planning an overseas medical volunteering trip in December

2015/January 2016 to Fores, Indonesia, with her partner of six years, Marc. Aside from studying

Rebecca has also pursued her hobby of pole dancing and recently came runner up in the Western

Australia heats of the Australian Pole Championships and went to Sydney to represent the State.

Rebecca also entered another state competition (and performed with a broken toe!) and regularly

teaches beginner and intermediate classes.

Alex Chisolm (05 – 09) is a Project Manager for Schlager Homes following completion of

Construction Management and Economics (Bachelor Degree) at Curtin University.

Cristyn Fielding (05 – 09) is currently working as an Environmental Field Officer at the Eastern

Metropolitan Regional Council.

Alice Henderson (97 – 09) is working as a Human Resources Assistant at Shelf Subsea Pty Ltd.

She completed a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Western

Australia.

Timothy Jenner (96 – 09) is completing a Masters of Teaching at the University of Notre Dame

full-time while working part-time as a Chaplain at Austin Cove Baptist College.

Rachel Massie (08 – 09) is a Graduate Engineer at Arup. She previously worked with Leightons as

a graduate engineer on the Gateway WA project near the airport after graduating from Curtin

University at the end of 2013.

2010 Leavers

Chloe Ayres (98 – 10) is completing studies at Hillsong International Leadership College and is

living in Sydney.

Anneliese Bone (08 – 10) wrote to us in July to share that she is attending Murdoch University

undertaking a Bachelor of Science – Conservation and Wildlife Biology. Anneliese is Conservation

Volunteering at a Safari Park in South Africa Natural Reserves Trainee – City of Mandurah.

Stephen Dodd (06 – 10) is currently studying for a science degree in building at Curtin University.

Fiona Parker (2006 – 2010) is working as an English second language teacher in Hyogo, Japan,

after graduating with a Bachelor of Arts (Japanese) from the University of Western Australia in 2014.

Shanice Wilkins (98 – 10) just completed her second year at Murdoch University studying a

maths/statistics degree and an education degree. Shanice is living in Pinjarra with her fiancé and

currently expecting their first child in March. They are very excited!

Alexander Winning (98 – 10) is currently undertaking his masters in psychology at the University

of Melbourne by studying externally. Alexander had a decent stack on his longboard, in Falcon.

Good thing he was wearing a helmet! He spends most of his free time at Black Wall Reach meeting

new friends.

2011 Leavers

Emma Cook (07 – 11) is in her final year at the Australian Defence Force Academy. She is

majoring in Politics and Indonesian and finds this useful for dinner conversations… and her travels to

Bali. Emma believes living in Canberra isn’t all bad, and enjoys the boiling summers and freezing

winters, but she can’t wait until she is posted back to sea.

Kimberley Cowper (98 – 11) is studying at Edith Cowan University for her Bachelor of Education

major; Health and Physical Education Australian Institute of Fitness – Certificate III and IV of fitness.

Emma Hunter (07 – 11) wrote to us in April to share she had graduated with distinction from

Curtin University with a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Accounting and Business Law. At that

time she was working as a Graduate Finance Analyst at BHP Billiton.

Gypsie Jacob (07 – 11) is working at Corporate Property Conveyancing and Shane Jacob

Settlements.

Daisy Magor (99 – 11) is currently studying part-time at Curtin University and is due to graduate at

the end of 2016 with a Bachelor of Commerce with a double major in Accounting and Financial

Planning. Daisy is working at an accounting, broking and financial planning firm named Lawrence

Business Management in Mount Pleasant as a paraplanner when she isn’t at university.

2012 Leavers

Jarrod Bowman (08 – 12) is an Apprentice Electrician for Cousins Electrical.

Claudia Buters (08 – 12) just completed the final semester of her Conservation Biology/Zoology

double major at the University of Western Australia. She is planning on commencing Honours in

Semester 2, 2016 studying cooperative breeding behaviour in magpies and the contribution of helpers

to juvenile survival.

Lily Sullivan (08 – 12) is happily married and travelling Australia with her husband, Mitch, and

scruffy little dog, Rufus. In 2015 she completed her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at the University

of Western Australia.

Hadden Thompson (11 – 12) is studying Veterinary Science at Murdoch University.

Jessica Walmsley (08 – 12) is currently in her second year of studying Primary Education and 1-10

Health and Physical Education at Murdoch University. She initially completed a year of Occupational

Therapy at Curtin University in 2013 to realise it wasn’t the path for her. Jessica is absolutely loving

every minute of her education, and the practical experiences support and reinforce her desire to

influence children and their learning one day in the future. When she is not at University, Jessica

works part-time as a Sales and Administrative Assistant at a pool shop in Port Kennedy called PK Pool

and Spa Care. She has worked there for a year and a half and loves the environment. Jessica

remains in contact with a number of former students with regular catch ups and get togethers.

Without the support of her long term friends and holding the same beliefs, she feels she wouldn’t be

where she is today.

2013 Leavers

Matt Ballantyne (01 – 13) is currently completing a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Finance

and Marketing at Curtin University. He is also employed at Ballantyne Plumbing, Gas & Electrical.

Tessa Drew (09 – 13) was completing her second year of Bachelor of Pharmacy at Curtin

University when she wrote in June. She has moved out of home and is currently living near the

University to make it easier whilst studying. However, Tessa is still working in Mandurah each

weekend at Optimal Pharmacy in Meadow Springs.

Tessa received the Richard Langham Pharmacy scholarship during her first year of studying at Curtin

University and a smaller scholarship for submitting an essay piece on sustainability to Murdoch

University. She has explored the Karijini Gorges in Northern Western Australia, applying her

experience from her high school outdoor education lessons. Tessa found the experience ‘absolutely

amazing’.

Sarah Gibson (09 – 13) is Treasurer of the University of Western Australia mathematics union.

She is studying a Bachelor of Science majoring in mathematics and finance and will be graduating in

2016.

Jack Goodbody (09 – 13) is a Police Officer after graduating from the Academy in August.

Tamika Hewett (09 – 13) is currently studying a double degree in accounting and taxation at

Curtin University. In January 2014 she started an accounting cadetship with Newcombe Clifton Atkins

in Subiaco. Early in 2015 Tamika was head hunted by Pike Skinner who offered her a much better

opportunity. They are a well-established accounting firm in Subiaco. Tamika is now working for Pike

Skinner as a junior consultant as well as having a year left of her degree.

Chloe Kirk (09 – 13) completed the second year of her undergraduate science degree, majoring in

physiology and pharmacology at the University of Western Australia. Chloe travelled to Tanzania in

mid semester break to gain hospital experience with GapMedics, an overseas organisation for

students interested in medicine. She absolutely loved both of her week long placements in obstetrics,

gynecology and pediatrics. Following the Tanzanian experience, Chloe travelled through Eastern

Europe for a month with a few friends she has made through university.

Isla Munro (01 – 13), a Fashion Design student at Curtin University of Technology, was recently

awarded a prestigious scholarship by the Australian Government, more specifically the Department of

Foreign Affairs and Trade. The scholarship name is the New Colombo Plan. The intent of the New

Colombo Plan by the Australian Government is to strengthen relations between Australia and the

Indo-Pacific Region.

Isla and 99 other undergraduate students from across the country were all hand picked by the

Australian Government to live, study and intern in the Indo-Pacific region over the next 18 months.

They are all fully sponsored by the government to undertake their studies and internships whilst they

are in specific country locations Isla will be based in Hong Kong SAR.

The program’s awards night took place in November in Canberra at the National Gallery of Australia.

Awards were presented to students by the Foreign Minister the Hon Julie Bishop and Governor-

General, Sir Peter Cosgrove, in the Presence of Lady Cosgrove.

Isla is the only student from Curtin University, the only student from around the

Murray/Mandurah/Rockingham area and one of the youngest recipients of the award to be picked for

the program. She will be heading off to Hong Kong very early in 2016!

Jayde Smith (09 – 13) is in her second year of studying Occupational Therapy at Curtin University.

Thomas Waller (09 – 13) is a mechanical fitter/first class machinist/welding apprentice for an

engineering firm in Henderson, working on Navy boats.

Thomas Young (08 – 13) started studying Criminology part-time at Murdoch University at the

beginning of 2015. He completed the first semester before deferring Semester 2, as he travelled to

Edinburgh, Scotland, to visit his brother and help him start up his wholesale coffee roaster called

Obadiah Coffee. Thomas stayed for three months before heading back to Australia to work at 5

Senses Coffee over the summer. In February 2016 Thomas will be moving to Melbourne to study a

Bachelor of Criminal Justice at RMIT University full-time. He is very much looking forward to studying

this degree, as it will streamline and enhance his career into the Australian Federal Police.

2014 Leavers

Sam Alsop (01 – 14) is studying Chemistry and Biochemistry in the Bachelor of Philosophy at the

University of Western Australia. He is staying at St George’s College.

Rachel Ford (13 – 14) has been offered a place and will commence studying Internet

Communications at Curtin University in February 2016. She is also working part-time in retail.

Victoria Foss (11 – 14) will be undertaking her final year at Curtin University, where she is

studying a double degree in Creative Writing and Professional Writing and Publishing. Victoria wrote

for Avenoir Magazine, The Australia Times (as a fiction contributor), and Outlet Magazine. She is also

a Peer Learning Facilitator at UniReady.

Hannah Knight (01 – 14) is studying a Bachelor of Science at the University of Western Australia,

majoring in Population Health. She is staying at St Catherine’s College.

Thomas Russell (01 – 14) is studying Human Biology and Sport Science at the University of

Western Australia on an assured pathway to medicine following his undergraduate. Thomas is

currently working in nightclubs across Mandurah and Perth as a DJ.

Abbey Thomas (10 – 14) is studying a double degree in a bachelor of marketing and public

relations and a bachelor or behavioural science at the University of Notre Dame.

Hannah Thompson (10 – 14) has just finished her first year of studying a Bachelor of Science at

the University of Western Australia, majoring in Anatomy and Human Biology. She is planning on

doing a TAFE course in Massage Therapy early in 2016 so that hopefully she can work as a massage

therapist while completing her undergraduate, and then Medicine Degree. Hannah was travelling to

Africa for a few weeks over the summer to do some medical work experience in a Tanzanian hospital.

It was her first big holiday by herself and she was pretty excited!

Coen Walmsley (10 – 14) is working full-time in an office at BGC in Canning Vale.
