Applicants using this file to prove Patriotic Service in SAR for an ancestor should submit copies of 3 pages: 1.) the printed SAR Table of Contents and Notes that begins the PDF file; 2.) the tax list page in the PDF identifying the jurisdiction in which the ancestor was located (usually the first page of names of the jurisdiction with a title at the top); and 3.) the tax list page in the PDF bearing the name of the ancestor. The citation in the references section of the SAR application for Revolutionary War Service should include the name of the tax list from the top center of this PDF file Table of Contents and Notes and the PDF page numbers of the other pages submitted. Those listed only as executors of an estate are not considered to by taxpayers in their own right. Notes: Tax lists for only a single hundred of Frederick County for 1778 is extant: Middle Monocacy. The assessor’s certification on the last page of the all-property list states that the valuation was “according to the direction of the Act of Assembly intituled “An Act to raise the Supplies for the Current Year” and dated 13 August 1778.
