    ● Teams are challenged to raise funds, design a team "brand," hone teamwork skills, and build and program robots to perform prescribed tasks against a field of competitors.

  • About the robot● Only 6 weeks to design, build, and test!

    ● 120 pounds of sheer awesomeness!

    ● Up to 5 feet tall!

    YOU BUILD THAT!

  • Kickoff● First Saturday of January every FRC team around the

    world watches live video feed from NASA● NASA feed contains yearly game information● From there you have 6 weeks to build a functioning

    robot

  • Designing a Robot

    1. Scrutinize every detail in the rules.2. Small group brainstorming sessions.3. Entire group discussion.4. CAD

  • Building a RobotThree Sub-Teams:● Mechanical:

    ○ Builders of the Bot● Electrical:

    ○ Wiring of the Bot● Programming:

    ○ Program the Bot (LabView)

  • Not just about the robot

    ● Opportunities to learn public speaking skills● Design buttons, stickers, t-shirts, pamphlets● Website work● Write press releases● Take data and statistics● Take video and photo● Produce videos

  • Build Season January - February

    ● Kickoff Jan 3● Have exactly 6 weeks to build and program

    a working robot that follows game standards● Meet in shop Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri, and Sat.● Weekdays: 5:00pm-8:00pm● Saturdays: 10:00am-4:00pm

  • Competition Season March - AprilAlthough we are not building the robot during competition season, we still meet regularly to finalize the details of the season.● Central Illinois Regional

    ○ March 18-21○ Peoria, Illinois ○ Bradley University

    ● Another TBA

  • Requirements

    ● Students required 75 hrs during build season in order to travel○ If you can make at least two weeknights and

    saturdays you will meet time requirements ● $150 yearly fee

    ○ Financial help available● Fill out a Team Application● Mandatory safety meeting in December

  • Rookie Build Oct 11 - Nov 22● Practice building a robot to play a small

    game○ CAD○ Build○ Wire○ Program

    ● 6 Saturdays in a row● 10:00am-3:00pm● Not required but highly recommended
