Fraym is a U.S. Certified Small Business, created to meet demand for accurate, comprehensive, geospatial data in Africa. Before Fraym, organizations faced one consistent and fundamental challenge when working across Africa—the lack of hyper-local data to inform decisions. Analysis often relies on expensive, new surveys—or is limited to anecdotes, high-level statistics, or gut instincts. Fraym was created to fill this gap. Fraym offers fast, efficient, and accurate spatial data and analysis from the national to neighborhood level to inform project planning and adaptive management strategies across Africa.

What do we do?Our best-in-class platform uses predictive models to give project and proposal teams insights into areas with limited information. To achieve this, we use micro survey data, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and satellite imagery to estimate conditions on the ground.

For Gavi, Fraym assessed how vaccination rates changed across specific communities in the Sahel—looking at the impact of factors such as armed conflicts, population change, grid connectivity, and infrastructure, among others. Fraym highlighted communities that have been ‘left out’ of vaccination efforts.

Global Health

Fraym worked with the IFC to identify the most promising locations for small hydro development in Cote d’Ivoire. We combined localized data on grid connectivity and ability-to-pay to highlight the most promising areas for further investment.

Energy

For the African Development Bank, Fraym pinpointed and described vulnerable communities across 20+ fragile states—focused on identifying 10,000 target communities for the Bank’s “10,000 Communities in 1,000 Days” initiative. Fraym built an online tool for Bank staff to identify, zoom in, and pinpoint vulnerable communities.

Poverty and Vulnerability

Fraym worked with a foundation to understand the livelihoods of tobacco farmers in Malawi. After describing tobacco-farming households and communities in precise detail, Fraym illustrated opportunities to transition these farmers to new economic activities.
