Learn from river experts why our river delta is so vital to BC's economy and all habitat relying on wetlands and the abundance of minerals this river brings to our coast. The Discovery Centre seeks to connect communities up- and down-river and to provide a place to discuss, debate, and showcase the living, working Fraser River. Discover the stories and diversity of the entire Fraser River. Manfred's Meadow Red Fox Healthy Living Society 11am-3pm Join our Active Play sessions and try out our equipment for fun recreation activities including circus equipment such as introductory wooden stilts, pogo sticks, flower sticks, diabolos, group games, frisbee, soccer balls, volleyballs, slack line. We are a registered non-profit society and charity that serves Aboriginal and inner-city children, youth and families in Vancouver, North Vancouver, Surrey, and Metro- Vancouver. Manfred's Meadow Youth Manual Co-Design 11am-3pm Learn about “City on a Wall” & how our planet is going to be facing real urban difficulties in years to come. Co-Design Youth Program helps youth participate in the design of the spaces they will ultimately inherit. It enables youth to participate in school garden design, the interior design of a public library youth space, architectural design of a waterfront, transportation planning, youth-led conferences, strategic planning for environmental education. Local neighbourhood artist and writer, David helps us discover a fun new way to spell GREEN. It's exciting! It's easy! Green is the biggest word in the world. Stream of Dreams helps people understand their connections to water and fish habitat and how to make behavioral changes to protect streams, rivers, lakes and our one ocean. Stream of Dreams murals are calls to action to take care of water! Manfred's Meadow Lupii Community Cafe 11am-3pm BRING YOUR OWN CUP! Enjoy food, drinks, and good conversation with Lisa and her friends and learn how a community focused, zero-waste life can be dedicated to environmental and social sustainability while providing delicious food and beverages. At Lupii you won't find anything disposable — take-out containers are mason jars and resuable upcycled cloth napkins — you won't be throwing anything away! Manfred's Meadow Tiddley Cove Morris Dancers 11:30am – 12:15/30pm Learn all about this medieval dance and musical form celebrating the cycles of the seasons and harvests of the earth using using both sticks and hankies, melodeon, concertina, penny whistle, recorder, bodhran, tambourine, triangle, clarinet and mandolin. Morris dancing is one of the oldest traditional dances of England with over 600 years of history and is tied to special events such as harvest, first plowing, May Day and Solstice. Manfred's Meadow Vancouver Park Board 1pm The Park Board will host a Canada 150 Commemorative Tree planting of 3 trees native to Vancouver - one Big Leaf Maple, one Dogwood ‘Eddie’s White Wonder’ and one Western Red Cedar. Children and families most welcome to participate in this planting so please join this memorable Canadian moment! 1:30pm-3pm Native species pollinating shrubs plantings with Vancouver Mycology Society. Manfred's Meadow Entrance BCIT Forest and Natural Areas Management 11am-3pm Meet local scientists researching in Everett Crowley Park on mushroom and invasive plant studies! Learn the secrets within our soil and how we can all help the land thrive to once again become the wild forest it once was. Learn how natural areas provide important ecological services, like habitat for wildlife, promotion of biodiversity, storm- water flood mitigation & heat wave moderation. Manfred's Meadow Entrance Vancouver Mycology Society 11am-3pm Join VMS volunteers for an interactive mushroom & mycorrhizal walk with the Vancouver Park Board helping young pollinating shrubs grow healthy & helping bees & butterflies prosper in Everett Crowley Park and surrounding neighbourhoods. We will also inoculate nurse logs for new trees & numerous bugs, birds, squirrels and raccoons! Pollinator Garden Musqueam people The Musqueam peoples will honour Earth Day with the opening and closing blessing plus the planting of the First Nations tree during Canada 150 tree planting ceremony at 1 o'clock.
