Creative  Schools    Creative  Schools:  The  Grassroots  Revolution  That’s  Transforming  Education,  by  Ken  Robinson,  Ph.  D.  &  Lou  Aronica

“There  are  those  who  move:  the  change  agents  who  can  see  the  shape  of  a  different  future  and  are  determined  to  bring  it  about  through  their  own  actions  and  by  working  with  others.    They  know  they  don’t  always  need  permission…if  the  movement  has  enough  energy,  that  is  a  revolution.    And  in  education,  that’s  exactly  what  we  need.”    -‐Ken  Robinson,  Ph.  D.

Creative  Schools    Published  in  2015,  Creative  Schools:  The  Grassroots  Revolution  That’s  Transforming  Education  is  an  expansion  on  Sir  Ken  Robinson’s  widely  acclaimed  TED  Talk  entitled  “How  Schools  Kill  Creativity”.

Dr.  Robinson  compares  the  industrial  construct  of  education  as  it  has  been  for  many  years,  with  the  kind  of  schools  we  need.    Schools  that  foster  change,  innovation,  and  creativity.

Why  Creativity?    Human  beings  are  naturally  curious  and  creative

We  need  creative  and  innovative  thinking  to  care  for  our  world,  for  each  other,  and  for  ourselves

Real  education  is  personal  –  “Education  should  enable  young  people  to  engage  with  the  world  within  them  as  well  as  the  world  around  them.”  –  Ken  Robinson
