A busy Term 3 draws to a close this Friday. I trust students and staff will enjoy a relaxing and safe holiday. I would like to extend my thanks to all who assisted with school and P&C programs during the term. Finally, a general reminder, school grounds and facilities are not for use during the holidays without the prior approval of the principal.
Students return to school on Monday 8th October.
NAPLAN RESULTS Parents of Year 3 and Year 5 students will receive their child’s 2012 NAPLAN report on Wednesday. Any parent wishing to discuss or have the contents of the report clarified is invited to meet with their child’s teacher and/or the principal.
SPELLING BEE FINALISTS Shannah Barrish and Breanna Holmes (Stage 3), Lachlan Piper and Molly Curll (Stage 2) will represent Franklin in the Riverina Final of the 2012 Premier’s Spelling Bee at South Wagga Public School tomorrow. Best wishes!
2013 KINDER ORIENTATION STARTS On Wednesday 10 October (week 1 term 4) Franklin welcomes 2013 Kinder students and their parents to our school. The orientation will allow parents and students to experience Franklin School in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. NAIDOC PROGRAM The culture and achievement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples was on display last Tuesday. Many thanks to parents and community for their support and knowledge – Stan, Troy, Michael, Pat, Aron, Teleah and Shane.

ROLL OF HONOUR – WEEK 8 TERM 3 and WEEK 9 TERM 3 Teachers recognise and acknowledge the positive endeavours and personal achievements of students in a variety of ways. One such way is the presentation of Honours and Student of the Week certificates and Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) awards at the whole school assembly. This segment of the newsletter lists those who received Student of the Week and Honours Certificates and PBL awards. HOME READING – FOOTY FINALS FEVER The Term 3 Home Reading ‘REWARD’ is a mufti and games day on Wednesday 19 September. Students may dress in their colours of the footy finalists: – Rugby League (Bulldogs, Storm, Sea Eagles, Rabbitohs) or Australian Rules (Hawthorne, Sydney, Adelaide, Collingwood).
COMMUNITY SPORT Community Sport returns in Term 4 for all Year 3-6 students. A note is going home today which detailed the options:

and the associated costs (subject to sufficient students selecting the sport). Please return the preference sheet by Thursday 21 September. Be early to ensure that you get the sport you want.(Money not required till week 2 Term 4 when community sport starts). NB - Community sport is NOT covered by FranklinCover.
