GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS, POST-SECONDARY PLANS WITH YOUR STUDENT.

KNOW THE SCHEDULE CHANGE POLICY IN THE BOOKLET ENCOURAGE YOUR STUDENT TO TAKE THE MOST

CHALLENGING COURSES HE/SHE CAN HANDLE. STUDENTS WILL MEET INDIVIDUALLY WITH COUNSELORS &

PARENTS MAY CALL FOR APPOINTMENT TO BE INCLUDED. CALL OR CONTACT THE APPROPRIATE COUNSELOR WITH

Graduation Requirements 40 or 47 credits, depending on

diploma Passing Score on the ECA (graduation

qualifying exam) or waiver. ECA waiver is determined according

to state guidelines. Core 40 Diploma Core 40 with Academic Honors

Math– 6 credits: Algebra I, Geometry and Algebra II or a third year if

student received Algebra I credit in 8th grade. Science

– 6 credits 2 credits Biology 2 credits from chemistry/physics 2 credits elective science

Social Studies– 6 credits: 2 in U.S. History, 1

Government, 1 Economics, 2 World History or 2 World Geography

Physical Education– 2 credits

Health– 1 credit

Computers - 1 credit

Electives– 10 credits

ACADEMIC HONORS DIPLOMA Core 40 requirements PLUS

2 additional math credits 6 credits of World Language in one language OR 2 years

each in 2 different languages 2 credits in Fine Arts such as music or art And one of the following:

2 Advanced Placement courses and exams 6 dual enrollment college credits 1 Advanced Placement course and 3 dual enrollment college credits.

No grade lower than a C- in required areas 3.00 GPA by the end of the senior year. Total of 47 credits required.

MID YEAR GRADUATION AND REDUCED TIME SCHEDULES Mid-year graduates: Students who complete

7 full semesters and all requirements may graduate in Dec. No diploma or ceremony at that time.

Reduced Second Semester Schedules: Seniors may have a partial schedule second semester. Not for athletes.

Both options require parent permission form and must be submitted when scheduling.

BE DOING NOW Schedule rigorous courses your senior year. Talk to your counselor. Investigate your options. Check out the

Counseling website, the internet, and other sources for college and career information.

Finish strong for your junior year. Take the SAT and ACT in June.

Both are used for college admissions and for scholarships
