Fashion  1950s   After World War Two, short skirts and squared shouldered tops were no longer worn. Instead  long skirts for women and rounded shouldered tops were worn. Nylon, polyester, Orlon, and  Spandex were new materials that were used. Hats, gloves, and pearls were very popular since the  1950s clothing for women were very feminine looking .Poodle Skirts and Cocktail dresses were  worn for evening events. New York was influenced by England which is why Teddy Boys was  the new style for boys. This consisted of skinny ties and short trousers. Men wore flared jackets,  long overcoats, and bowler hats.
