Library Year 6 have been learning about mapping skills. They have been shown that we use co-ordinates (latitude and longitude) to locate places on maps. They have seen how the globe is divided into hemispheres (N,S and E,W) and looked at, and discussed, the Equator, Greenwich Meantime and the International Date Line (and how these last two affect time around the globe). The children have also been estimating degrees within grid squares on maps.
Play Battleships with someone using latitude and longitude co-ordinates (see attached sheet).
Premier’s Reading Challenge.
Choice books have now been increased to 10, due to libraries being closed. This will make it easier to complete the Challenge.
