Fragile Merchadise Carton Requirements and Markings
Carton Requirements
1) All fragile merchandise must be packaged in at least a double wall corrugate carton.
2) All carton corners must be reinforced to withstand a drop test. See below chart to determine what
drop test is necessary for your carton:

24” 21-40lbs
18” 41-60lbs
12” 61-75lbs
3) All cartons must be reinforced to withstand a ECT( Edge Crush test) and a Bursting Strength Test. See
below chart to determine what ECT and Bursting Strength Test is necessary for your carton.

4) Cartons must maintain shape and integrity throughout the supply chain.
5) All inner cartons must be re-shippable.
6) Items shipping in a carton cannot exceed 75lbs, unless approved by Vendor Relations.

Carton Markings
1) All cartons should be marked on every side of the carton with below in both English and
Spanish:
a. FRAGILE, HANDLE WITH CARE, DO NOT LAY FLAT.
b. Directional “arrows up” to instruct the carton handlers as to the proper carton handling.
c. International fragile markings.
*All letters in marking should be no smaller than 2”
* While markings may be unique to your facility we ask similar pictures be used

Mirrors/Wall Art
Interior Packing Requirements
Standard Shaped Mirrors/Wall Art (Square/Rectangular)
1) Corner protectors are required for all 4 corners of merchandise. Corner protection must be
reinforced with 4 staples
2) Styrofoam must be placed lengthwise between the mirror/wall art on the small side of carton
from the top to the bottom. Do not place Styrofoam on front and back side of carton.
3) If shipping multiple units on one carton a piece of Styrofoam must be placed between each
mirror/wall art to prevent damage.
4) Horizontally placed reinforcements are required to be attached in the rear of the mirror/wall art
with at a minimum of 4 staples on each side. Reinforcement material can be made of “luan
board” or of similar material. These reinforcements should be placed underneath a protective
cardboard/paperboard and any hanging apparatus.

5) All hanging apparatuses must be protected with paperboard, cardboard, or similar material to
protect from damage in transit.
Non- Standard Shaped Mirrors/Wall Art
1) Non-Standard shaped mirrors/wall art is any mirror that’s shape is not square or rectangular.
2) Styrofoam must be placed lengthwise between the mirror/wallart on the small side of carton
from the top to the bottom. Do not place Styrofoam on front and back side of carton.
3) If shipping multiple units in one carton a piece of Styrofoam must be placed between each
mirror/wall art to prevent damage.

Non- Standard Shaped Mirrors/Wall Art
1) Non-Standard shaped mirrors/wall art is any mirror that’s shape is not square or rectangular.
2) Styrofoam must be placed lengthwise between the mirror/wallart on the small side of carton
from the top to the bottom. Do not place Styrofoam on front and back side of carton.
3) If shipping multiple units in one carton a piece of Styrofoam must be placed between each
mirror/wall art to prevent damage.
4) All hanging apparatuses must be protected with paperboard, cardboard, or similar material to
protect from damage in transit
5) Items must be placed in “display box” inside a “pizza box” to ensure the product stays intact
throughout the supply chain. Styrofoam must be placed in between the edge of the mirror and
the corner of the box for additional protection.

Interior Packing Requirements
1) All items shipped in a single carton must either use Protective Styrofoam and/or Styrofoam
inner packing forms. Merchandise may also be wrapped in a protective covering (1/16” cohesive
coated polyethylene foam or ½” bubble wrap)
2) Multiple items shipping in the same master carton must be placed in a shippable inner carton
and use 1/16” cohesive coated polyethylene foam or ½” bubble wrap between each item to
protect goods.

3) Protective corrugate partitions may also be used to protect the goods. Partition height must be
equal or higher than merchandise it is protecting.

Interior Packing Requirements
1) All items shipped in a single carton must use a protective Styrofoam and/or Styrofoam inner
packing forms. Merchandise may also be wrapped in a protective covering (1/16” cohesive
coated polyethylene foam or ½” bubble wrap)
2) Multiple items shipping in the same master carton must be placed in a shippable inner
carton and use 1/16” cohesive coated polyethylene foam or ½” bubble wrap between each
item to protect goods
Olive Oils and Food/Home Product Shipped in Glass Containers
Interior Packing Requirements
1) All items must stand upright in cartons.
2) Multiple items shipping in the same carton must be placed in corrugated separators to protect
the goods. Partition height must be equal or higher than merchandise it is protecting.

Nested Planters
Interior Packing Requirements
1) All goods must be wrapped in a protective cover, which includes but is not limited to 1/16”
cohesive coated polyethylene foam or 1/2” bubble wrap.
2) The protective cover should then be wrapped in single corrugated roll or similar material.
3) Corrugated corner protectors must be places in all 4 corners of the carton from top to bottom.
4) Any “nested” merchandise must have protective 1/16” cohesive coated polyethylene or similar
placed between each nested piece.
Furniture
Interior Packing Requirements
1) All goods must be packed in a protective cover, which includes but is not limited to 1/16”
cohesive coated polyethylene foam. Foam should then be wrapped in a single corrugate roll
wrap.
2) Corners protectors must be applied securely so not to be removed while in transit and in order
to not damage merchandise when removed.
Wicker Furniture and Storage Merchandise
Interior Packing Requirements
1) All goods must be packed in a protective cover, which includes but is not limited to 1/16”
cohesive coated polyethylene foam. Foam should then be wrapped in a single corrugate roll
wrap.
