The Division of Surgery, Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Izatnagar has designed two practical oriented capsule courses on ‘Urogenital Surgery in Animals’ (05 days) and ‘Fracture Management in Animal s ’ (05 days ) fo r p rac t i c ing veterinarians of State Animal Husbandry Departments and other organizations under capacity development objective of All India Network Program on Diagnostic Imaging and Management of Surgical Conditions in Animals (AINP-DIMSCA) .
Course objectives The courses are aimed at imparting field oriented practical knowledge to the veterinarians in the area of management of urolithiasis, neutering, caesarian section, pyometra management and fracture management in small and large animals through demonstrations and hands on training. The short courses will help the practicing veterinarians in confidence building and enhancement of their existing professional competence.
Participants The courses are specially designed for practicing veterinary professionals of the State Animal Husbandry Departments and other organizations with minimum qualification of B.V.Sc. & A.H.
The participants will not be charged any course fee but their sponsoring department/ organization will have to bear the cost of travel, boarding and lodging during their stay. Institute will provide accommodation to the participants in the Institute’s guest house.
Capsule Course on Fracture Management • Principles of fracture fixation
• Techniques of external coaptation
• Techniques for internal fixation of fracture in small animals
• Use of external skeletal fixators in large animals
• Management of affections of tendons and ligaments
• Management of complications of fracture healing
Capsule Course on Urogenital Surgery• Congenital condition of urogenital tract in animals
• Management of urolithiasis in dogs/cats/ goats/ cattle/ buffallo
• Techniques of tube cystostomy, castration, vasectomy and scrotal ablation
• Techniques of urethrotomy, urethrostomy and cystotomy
• Techniques of ovariohysterectomy and caesarian section
• Management of pyometra, vaginal prolapse and uremia
