Rational Numbers Terminating Decimal – a decimal
that ends. Repeating Decimal – a decimal that
has a digit or group of digits that repeats without end.
Counting Numbers: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 … Whole Numbers: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 … Integers: … -3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3, …
Vocabulary Rational Number – a number that can
be written as a quotient of two integers (in fraction form, , where a and b are integers and b ≠ 0).

Review: Write Fractions as Decimals
Our decimal system is based on powers of 10 such as 10, 100, and 1,000.
If the denominator of a fraction is a power of 10, you can use place value to write the fraction as a decimal
Complete the table below:

Seven tenths 7/10 0.7
Nineteen hundredths
One-hundred five thousandths
Examples:
Write each fraction or mixed number as a decimal:
1. 3/10

Compare Fractions and Decimals
It may be easier to compare numbers when they are written as decimals
