This is the Twentieth Sunday in Ordinary
Time. Persistence in
prayer! Is there anyone among us who does not need that? We pray, but
we pray sporadically and half-heartedly. We knock, but we
don’t keep on knocking; we ask but we don’t keep on asking. We pray, but we are not persistent in prayer. But if we re – read the Gospel and the story of
the Canaanite woman we see how persistence pays off.
I think of the prayer of St. Thomas More: “The things, good Lord, that we pray for, give us the grace to labor for.”
So, be persistent in making your demands on God in prayer, but realize
that God may also be making a few demands on us. Or, as seems to be the case with the Canaanite woman,
god may want to hear from us just one more time!
Fr. Jason Mouton St. Martin de Tours, Pray for Us!

A prayer for pregnant mothers
O Blessed Mother, you received the good news of the incarnation of Christ, your Son, with faith and trust. Grant your protection to all pregnant mothers facing difficulties.
Guide us as we strive to make our parish communities places of welcome and assistance for mothers in need. Help us become instruments of God’s love and compassion.
Mary, Mother of the Church, graciously help us build a culture of life and a civilization of love, together with all people of good will, to the praise and glory of God, the Creator and lover of life. Amen.
Marriage Tips! When all else fails, WAIT! When things aren’t going well in your marriage – and there are bound to be those days – give it
time. Sometimes we need to just cool off, sleep on it and then come back with more positive feelings. Sometimes, when we complement each other well, our spouse can seem like an angel. Other times, our differences can cause struggles and harsh words. Remember the former when you are in the latter state. Married love is “an act of free will!” Its nature is to help husband and wife grow one heart and one soul.
Prayer for Coronavirus
Holy Virgin of Guadalupe, Queen of the Angels and Mother of the Americas. We
fly to you today as your beloved children. We ask you to intercede for us with your Son, as you did at the wedding in Cana. Pray for us, loving Mother, and gain for our nation and world, and for all our families and loved ones, the protection of your holy angels, that we may be spared the worst of this illness. For those already afflicted, we ask you to obtain the grace of healing and deliverance. Hear the cries of those who are vulnerable and fearful, wipe away their tears and help them to trust. In this time of trial and testing, teach all of us in the Church to love one another and to be patient and kind. Help us to bring the peace of Jesus to our land and to our hearts. We come to you with confidence, knowing that you truly are our compassionate mother, health of the sick and cause of our joy. Shelter us under the mantle of your protection, keep us in the embrace of your arms, help us always to know the love of your Son, Jesus. Amen.
There is a wonderful family from my previous assignment of St. Anne’s in Youngsville, Larry and Gladys Lasseigne, who have generously provided me with several of their condos in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee for the past 8 years where my dear mother, Dolores, myself, several priests, other family members ( my brother and sister with their families) and Deacon Boutte’ have enjoyed. It is an absolute oasis in the Great Smokey Mountains. There are SO many attractions in the area which includes: Dollywood, Holly Wood Wax Museum, Gatlinburg Sky Lift, Several
wineries, Titanic Museum, the Island in Pigeon Forge (huge outdoor mall with stores), Alcatraz Crime Museum, Wonderworks Museum, and many, many more attractions and excursions. Take a family vocation and secure one of these cabins…it will be a real treat for you and your family and friends. It’s about a 12 hour drive. Please consider a vacation next summer, it is well worth it a a get-a-away from the hustle and bustle of daily work. Again this couple has four (4) cabins for rental
Applewood Manor is located less than ½ mile from Dollywood Theme Park and has a beautiful view of the Mountains and you can hear the trains whistle from the cabins porch. Each cabin has a heated pool and a game room (pool table, foos ball machine).
For more information go to Cabinsforyou.com or just google cabin’s name in Pigeon Forge, Tn.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED TO HELP CLEAN THE CHURCH
If you are able to help clean our beautiful church once a week on
Wednesday mornings at 8am, please call Ms. Arlene Boyer at 394-9404
or 288-2784.
GOOD NEWS! Because of the profit sharing on the Church endowment which was applied to the loan our balance is only $15,640.23. We will have this
loan paid off by year end. This was a loan of about $530,000.00 in late 2014 to early 2015.
Missionary of Mercy (Special Confessor) Bishop J. Douglas Deshotel is pleased to announce that Reverend Monsignor Jefferson J. DeBlanc, Pastor of Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Lafayette, has been appointed by the Holy See as a Missionary of Mercy (Special Confessor) with the special mandate to preach and teach about the Mercy of God and of
absolving penalties attached to certain sins normally reserved to the Holy See. For more information, please visit diolaf.org.
For those who are interested we will have our “Family Fun Day” on the church and rectory
lawn on Sunday, October 18th following the 11a.m. Mass. Please bring your own tents and lawn chairs, masks if mingling with others, hand sanitizers, etc. We have all been cooped up these many months and want to socialize but remember social distancing is still required. A former parishioner of mine, Marshall Landry, will be selling Pork Steak Sandwiches, Hamburgers, and Funnel Cakes. Please join your extended St. Martin de Tours Family for a wonderful day of fellowship and community.
Prayer in these trying times!
“O Immaculate Mother, Queen of our country, open our hearts, our homes, and our Land to the com-ing of Jesus, your Divine Son. With Him, reign over us, O heav-enly Lady, so pure and so bright with the radiance of God’s light
shining in and about you. Be our Leader against the powers of evil set upon wresting the world of souls, redeemed at such a great cost by the sufferings of your Son and of your-self, in union with Him, from that same Savior, Who loves us with infinite charity. “We gather about you, O chaste and holy Mother, Virgin Immaculate, Patroness of our beloved Land, determined to fight under your banner of holy purity against the wickedness that would make all the world an abyss of evil, without God and without your loving maternal care. “We consecrate our hearts, our homes, our Land to your Most pure Heart, O great Queen, that the kingdom of your Son, our Redeemer and our God, may be firmly established in us. “We ask no special sign of you, sweet Mother, for we believe in your great love for us, and we place in you our entire confidence. We promise to honor you by faith, love, and the purity of our lives according to your desire. “Reign over us, then, O Virgin Immaculate, with your Son Jesus Christ. May His Divine Heart and your most chaste Heart be ever en-throned and glorified among us. Use us, your children of America, as your instruments in bringing peace among men and nations. Work your miracles of grace in us, so that we may be a glory to the Blessed Trinity, Who created, re-deemed, and sanctifies us. “May your valiant Spouse, St. Joseph, with the holy Angels and Saints, assist you and us in ‘renewing the face of the earth.’ Then when our work is over, come, Holy Immaculate Mother, and as our Victorious Queen, lead us to the eternal kingdom, where your Son reigns forev-er as King. Amen. [200 days indulgence]” Nihil Obstat: Daniel Pilarczyk, S.T.D. Imprimatur: Paul F. Leibold, V.G. Cincinnati, January 25, 19

United States Conference of Catholic Bishops Statement: "But racism still profoundly affects our culture, and it has no place in the Christian heart. This evil causes great harm to its victims, and it corrupts the souls of those who harbor racist or prejudicial thoughts. The persistence of the evil of racism is why we are writing this letter now." Below now follows a book that should be read; however, some may object, but it’s ok. We all need to search our own hearts about anything that is against the will of our Heavenly Father.
Everyone Belongs
Inspired by the USCCB’s statement “Open
Wide Our Hearts: The Enduring Call to Love, A Pastoral
Letter Against Racism,” and created in collaboration with
Loyola Press, Everyone Belongs, empowers young readers to
reflect on the reality of racism in our society, to see it through
the lens of history and faith, and act towards respect,
understanding, and friendship.
In this fully illustrated book for children ages 5-12, Ray
Ikanga is a young boy whose family fled violence in their
home country to come to the United States as refugees. The
family moves into a new neighborhood and Ray begins
making new friends. His excitement is interrupted, however,
when someone spray paints a hurtful message on their
garage: “Go home!” Everyone Belongs is a book about
recognizing the value of our differences, respecting each
other, and forgiveness.
Children's Church
Every Sunday at 11:00 AM, children will be invited at the beginning of mass to attend children's church in the cafeteria. Children will return after the priest homily. All volunteers have been Safe Environment trained. All children are invited.
If you have any questions, please call Tilly Duplechein at the Parish Office at 394-6021.
