Dear Friends,We are beginning to feel the excitement of our upcoming move to England, ye t atouch of sorrow filters in now and again.Four days ago we sold nearly all our earthly possessions. Since then, we divided therest into four piles: borrowed items to be returned to fiiends, boxes to be shipped toEngland, articles for Goodwill, and a pile for the garbage collectors. While sorting, we opened the boxes we had carefully packed away to find childhoodtoys, letters from our dating days, our firstborn's baby clothes, and pictures ofdearfriends. Waves of emotion swept over us as we realized there was no room in ourcrate to take these things to England.Ye t we cannot help but anticipate the upcoming adventure of serving Christ inEngland. As someone else said, ...parting is such sweet sorrow. Please pray for us in our continuing discussions with an Illinois congregation who isseriously considering a financial commitment that would complete our sustaining(monthly) need. We delayed our departure to the field by a few weeks to develop agood relationship with them as missionaries and supporting partners. We have one last need that you can help us with before ou r departure in October: alloutgoing funds must be received or committed before we leave.Outgoing funds cover one-time expenses such as airline tickets, shipping, householdappliances (purchased in England), and a vehicle. To date, we have received 10,534of our $44,667 need. A team member in England just faxed us to tell about theweakness of the American dollar against the English pound. We are confident, however, that the Lord will provideKnowing that (jod enables His work through His people, we ask for your help. Wouldyou prayerfully consider sending a one-time gift to complete our outgoing need? Wewill need of100 gifts of500 and 1 000 aswell as gi i s of15 25 50 tohelp us quicklymeet our goal. We've enclosed a card for your response.Perhaps you could recommend us to your congregation or your Sunday School classfor a one-time offeringwithin the next three months. All gifts are greatly appreciatedin speeding us on to our ministry in England. Please also pray for all our final details to come together, safety as we travel, andadjustment in our new home.
