EMMANUEL
To name someone or something means that we have a relationship with that entity. Family names identify us with our heritage; nicknames denote familiarity or a spe-cial bond. In the Old Testament, the meaning of a name ran deep. It identified one’s mission, even one’s very being.
The amazing name “Emmanuel” was first uttered by Isaiah as he described to the frightened King Ahaz the promised one who would come to redeem the people. Emmanuel is not a frightening philosophical name, such as Omnipotent, Omniscient, Almighty. It does not con-note distance and transcendence. It does not generate reverential fear. The name Emmanuel implies closeness and intimacy and compassion. Emmanuel is the name given to the one who is coming. It means “God is with us.” God is entrusted to the care of a virgin, who will bear this child. Only God would be so compassionate to draw so near, to be so available and vulnerable. Only God could love this well. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

ST. ISIDORE’S FAMILIES
2014 marks the 20th Anniversary of “The Year of the Family”. During this special year, February through
November, St. Isidore Parish will be will be celebrating monthly masses for its families. The first Sunday of
every month, specific families will be invited to attend 12 Noon Mass together. In addition, all families are
requested to pray the glorious mystery of the rosary for the intention of all members of their family, all mem-
bers of the parish family and all members of the church family. More information will follow. God bless each one of you and your families as we begin this new year.
Excerpt From “Letter to Families from Pope John Paul II, Gratissimam Sane”
“Among these many paths (along which man walks), the family is the first and the most important. It is a
path common to all, yet one which is particular, unique and unrepeatable, just as every individual is unrepeata-ble; it is a path from which one cannot withdraw. In-deed, a person normally comes into the world within a family, and can be said to owe to the family the very
fact of his existing as an individual. Furthermore, she knows that a person goes forth from the family in order to realize in a new family unit his particular vocation in life. Even if someone chooses to remain single, the fam-
ily continues to be, as it were, his existential horizon, that fundamental community in which the whole net-work of social relations is grounded, from the closest
and most immediate to the most distant. Do we not of-ten speak of the “human family” when referring to all
the people living in the world?”
Christmas 2013
Dear Parishioners of St. Isidore:
As Christmas is at our doors, we think of the blessings God has bestowed on us by sending His Son to live among us and to save us.
God is with us!
May the news of His birth encourage us to celebrate in word and deed God’s love for our fami-lies. And may the Joy in the birth of Jesus encourage us to live this coming year in gratitude and hope.
I would like to express my thanks for the gift of your presence and love, your generosity and kindness to our parish and your moral and spiritual support. May the Baby of Bethlehem bless each one of you with all that you need to live this New Year faithful to your calling.
Merry Christmas! Father Robert
Boże Narodzenie 2013
Drodzy Parafianie parafii Św. Izydora!
Gdy Boże Narodzenie jest u naszych drzwi, myślimy o błogosławieństwie, którym Bóg obdar-za nas przez posłanie nam Swojego Syna, by żył wśród nas i by nas zbawił.
Bóg jest z nami!
Niech ta wiadomość o Jego narodzeniu pomaga nam celebrować w słowach i czynach miłość Boga do naszych rodzin. I niech radość z narodzin Jezusa dodaje nam odwagi w przeżyciu nadchodzącego roku z wdzięcznością i nadzieją.
Chciałbym wyrazić moje podziękowanie za dar waszej obecności i miłości, waszej hojności i życzliwości wobec naszej parafii i waszego moralnego i duchowego wsparcia.
Niech Dzieciątko z Betlejem błogosławi każdemu z was i obdarzy wszystkim, czego potrzebu-jecie do przeżycia tego Nowego Roku wierni swojemu powołaniu.
Wesołych Świąt, ks. Robert
