FOURTH SUNDAY OF ADVENT December 22, 2019 PG. 2
Ministry Schedule for December 28, and December 29, 2019
FOURTH SUNDAY OF ADVENT December 22, 2019 PG. 3
This week, the Church focuses on the Incarnation. God’s intervention in history took an unprecedented and most powerful turn when He sent the Second Person of the Blessed Trinity to take on a human nature in the womb of the Virgin Mary, and became Jesus Christ, Our Lord. In the Old Testament, there was a prescription against graven images. Why? God intended to choose the way He wanted to be seen by us. He wanted us to see the manger. He wanted us to see the house of a simple carpenter. He wanted us to see the wood of the cross. He wanted us to see the stone of the tomb. He wanted us to see the clouds of heaven. God gave Himself a human face in Jesus as He lay in the manger, lived and worked in Nazareth, hung upon the cross, rose from the stone of the tomb, and ascended to the clouds of heaven. By doing this, He showed us that He is one of us. He knows about this world, it’s ugly side, but also showed that God is more powerful than those forces. Death is destroyed in His resurrection and those who die with Christ will also rise with Him to the clouds of heaven. The Incarnation of the Son of God inspires the generosity of the season because God has been generous to us. He is the Reason for the Season. This little baby born in a stable in Bethlehem, silently started to change the world with His first whimper. He showed us that love is not just a feeling, its a reality. It is indeed the foundational reality. As St. John tells us, “God is love”, and love has a human face, the face of the Son of God, the face of the new born baby Jesus in swaddling clothes in Bethlehem. Allow me, as your priest, to wish you a very Blessed Christmas. Whether you will be joining us here for Holy Mass or traveling near and far, know that you will be remembered at the altar. May the Holy Child born on December 25th, whom we adore as Lord and Christ, bless you and fill you with grace, and allow you to be the face of love in your family, in your workplace and wherever else you may be.

RCIA: Adult Faith Formation DID YOU MISS ANY SACRAMENTS
ALONG THE WAY?…..
The R.C.I.A. Faith Formation Classes will
once again begin. If you, or a loved one who is
Baptized, and have missed a Sacrament along
the way or someone who feels a calling to the
Catholic Faith, consider the RCIA. This For-
mation Program provides education about our
Faith and works with the individuals towards
receiving their sacraments. The Sacraments
are given at the Easter Vigil Mass. You must be
18 years old and meet with a Priest or Deacon.
Feel free to leave a message and email address
at the Rectory for Deacon Richard or
Dr. Connie Salhany.
Shrine of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini
Some parishioners have asked to make a
shrine of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini in the church to honor this local saint who served Our Lord so lov-ingly and tirelessly by serving the poor and immi-
grants. I have heartily welcomed this idea provided that this project be fully funded by donation. While some have pledged already to the project, I wanted
to invite others to be a part of it if they wish. We will be getting a statue, a pedestal and candle stand
for the shrine. Once the funds are prepared and things are ordered, we will work on having a dedica-
tion of the shrine, probably after the New Year. If you are interested in being part of this project, please feel free to bring donations to the rectory and specify it is for the Shrine of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini. Please make checks payable to Our Lady Help of Christians Church. St. Frances Xavier Cabrini, pray for us.
