Please pray for the repose of the souls of our LORD’s faith-ful servants, Mrs. Josephine Ann Strellner, who entered eternal rest on 16 January 2017, and Barbara Larson’s brother, Mr. Roy Swanserger, who entered eternal rest on 22 January 2017, and their families. Eternal rest grant unto Josephine Ann Strellner and Roy Swanserger, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen. O Lord hear my prayer, and let my cry come to you. O God, the creator and redeemer of all the faithful, grant to the soul of Your departed servants the remission of all their sins that through Your mercy they may obtain that par-don which they have always desired. Amen. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us. St. Michael, pray for us. St. Faustina, pray for us. All Ye Holy Saints and Souls, pray for us.

Catholic Community Question This week’s Question: “What is the ‘hierarchy of Eucharis-tic liturgies’?” The answer to last week’s Question: “What does it mean to be an ‘Apologist’?” An Apologist is the title of honor that was given in the early days of the Church to writ-ers among the fathers who defended the Church and its teach-ings. Now it is applied to one versed in fundamental theology, or one who teaches, speaks, or writes in defense or clarification of the teachings and practices of the Church. (For more info, see Apologetics.) Have you ever asked yourself, “Where does Cecil come up with the weekly Catholic Community Questions?” Most of the ques-tions and answers are available in the Catechism of the Cath-olic Church (CCC), Catholic Source Book, and other relat-ed Church teachings. If you would like to obtain a copy of the CCC, Catholic Source Book or other related Church teaching documents, stop by Saintly Gifts, and inform Linda that you too would like to pick up a copy of the Catholic Source Book.

Do we get everything we know about Jesus from the Bible alone?

Not everything is written. We also have Sacred Tradition - stories told orally. John 21:25 – “There are also many other things that Jesus did, but if these were to be described individually, I do not think the whole world would contain the books that would be writ-ten.” (CCC 76) – The Gospel was handed on in two ways: orally, and in writing.

Have you ever done or said something that you wished you hadn’t done or said, espe-cially, if it was hurtful to another person? The Good News is that Jesus still loves you and you can be reconciled to the Him – Today! He’s waiting for you, in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Run to Him, with happy feet and a repented heart – while there is still time for you to do so.

Philosophy of Education St. Michael’s Catholic Community is a unique Christian community organized to foster spiritual, moral, intellec-tual, social, emotional, and physical growth of its members regardless of race, creed, or color. This is achieved through a Spirit of dedication, freedom, and love that is based on the Gospel message. Our Catholic community staff and catechists believe parents are the primary educa-tors of their children and they work with parents as a cooperative group having common purposes and motivated by common ideals. St. Michael’s fosters the religious formation of its students in light of the teaching of the Roman Catholic Church. Our catechists strive to in still a love of learning, an appreciation of God's world, respect for life, a com-mitment to stewardship and service, and a true respect for the unique-ness of each individual. I personally want to “Thank” our parents who have made a sacrifice to send their children to our Catholic Faith Formation/CCD sessions and for their cooperation.

In-Christ-Love, Fr. Mark We still do not have all the paperwork for those students receiving a Sacrament this year. It is imperative that we have all of this pa-perwork in hand and completed “before” the actual date of the Sacrament. (Out of 9 Confirmandi, we have paperwork for 5).

Marriage

Saint Michael's Book Club meets each

Thursday at 7:00 PM in Building #13, at the Reli-gious Education Center Complex. Our next book

is titled "Church of Spies: The Pope's Secret War against Hitler" by Mark Riebling (Starting February 2, 1917). This a historical novel taking place just before and during World War II. It sheds light on the Catholic Church's role, during the war. It is an exciting read and gives a better understanding of the actions of Pope Pius XII. Come and Join us, to discuss this excellent piece of work. If you have any questions, contact Tom Dean, at: 706-860-6946.

Stewardship “Welcome one another, then, as Christ welcomed you, for

the glory of God.”- Romans 15:7 Hospitality is a pillar of stewardship and evangelization. Our Catholic community will project a welcoming environment, if we are welcoming. Being good stewards requires us to know one another. Do we

take time to greet and meet those around us at Mass each Sunday?

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament When you love someone you want to spend as much time with that person, as possible, out of the 168 hours a week that you have been blessed with. How much time do you spend with your first love - Jesus? Spending a holy hour every Wednes-days evenings, in Good Shepherd Chapel, from 1830-1930, is a great time for you to spend with

your first love – Jesus. “Behold, the Lamb of God; behold him who takes away the sins of the world. Blessed are those called to the Supper of the Lamb! Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.”

The Lamb of God (having been slain, but alive in victory over death) is presented recumbent upon the

seven-sealed Book of God’s final plan.

The Pope’s Prayer Intention for January 2017

Evangelization: Christian Unity. That

all Christians may be faithful to the Lord’s teaching by striving with prayer and fraternal charity to restore ecclesial communion and by collaborating to meet the challenges facing humanity.
