Reading ~ Unit 3 Test & Idioms/ Proverbs/Adages Language Arts ~ Greek/Latin Word Parts/Prefixes/Suffixes & Continued finalizing our Student Treasures class book Math ~ Adding & Subtracting Mixed Numbers Science~ Sun, Earth, Moon Test/ Water Cycle Perfect Attendance Students who have per- fect attendance for the month of February will receive an ice cream treat! Weather Log Science Homework During Science class, students have been learning about Earth’s weather. This week we focused on the water cycle and weath- er instruments. Next week, we will begin to learn how to read and interpret weath- er maps. In order for students to connect what they are learning to the real world, we are requiring them to watch the news, use the internet, or listen to radio weath- er reports and forecasts every day. They will then complete a daily weather log be- ginning on Monday, February 24. Students will need to complete the log for the en- tire week and return it on Friday. The weather log will take the place of the regular science homework for next week. Look for this homework with the Reading Log and Math review sheet! Student Treasures Class Book I sent an updated note home about our class book on Monday. Because of all of our snow days, the company has ex- tended our publishing date to mid- March. Many of you have already re- turned the order form, but if you have not, please do so. If you do wish to purchase a book, you need to make checks payable to Student Treasures Publishing. Please turn in money and order form by February 28th. This is a new extended due date. Even if you do not wish to purchase a book, please mark no, sign and return the slip. Thank You! Thank you to all who sent in supplies for the remain- der of the school year. As always we appreciate your continued support of our classrooms and Camargo Elementary! Valentine’s Day Parties Thank you to all that sent in items for our Valentine’s Day parties. We had tons of fun sharing our cards and eating healthy foods. We have included a few pictures from the party on the back of this newsletter. Scholastic Book Orders Scholastic Reading Club book orders were sent home on Friday. There was a typo on the note sent home with these orders— they are due on Tuesday, February 25th. A coupon was attached to your child’s order form—if you purchase $10 in books, the coupon allows you to choose $5 book for free! :) You can use these coupons online or send them to me. If you have any trouble with using the cou- pon online, just send it to me with the free book choice and I will try to take care of it. AR GOALS & Study Island Students should be working toward their third nine-weeks AR goal. En- courage your child to read chapter books for their reading log to earn points toward their goal. The 3rd nine weeks will end on March 28th and this will be the last day for students to meet their AR goal. Also, students can be working on Study Island reading, math, and sci- ence topics to earn their blue ribbons.
