Super Heroes Wear Capes - 4th
Avenue “Soup”er Heroes Wear Aprons! In last month’s Fourth Teller, our secretary, Catherine, shared some stats regarding the success of this year’s Lenten Soup Luncheons. We have one more stat to announce: the net profit total this year was $18,021.23!! Kathy DuChene, our church treasurer, sends her thanks for boosting our bank ac-count. We also collected $296 for the Food Shelf in addition to the groceries that were donated. A plethora of activities and hard work happen between the first planning meeting to the actual serving of the soup on Fridays. The fellowship and comradery shared is so worth it. MANY THANKS go to everyone who helped in any way to make this year’s soup luncheons a HUGE success. Next year marks the 20
th year of Soup Luncheons served at 4
th Avenue!
That is quite a milestone. This is an event that our community looks forward to with great anticipation every year! Thank you again for everything! God is smiling down on 4
th Avenue Unit-
ed Methodist Church which is not only a great place to worship but also a great place to enjoy some mighty tasty soup!

Interested in provid-ing special music this summer? There is a sign-up sheet hanging by the large bulletin board near the parking lot door where you can secure a Sun-day to share your musi-cal talents (or maybe a friend or relative who might be visiting you this summer would like to be a part of our wor-ship service). Solos, duets, trios, quartets, or instrumental numbers would enhance our summer services as the choir takes a break for the summer. Please sign up! Contact me if you need help arrang-ing accompaniment, etc. Hope to see you (and hear you!) this summer! Kelly Landsverk, Choir Direc-tor 507-334-3202 or 507-330-2840
I want to thank everyone
who helped make the
Christian Pipers’ a posi-
tive and enjoyable year.
It is greatly appreciated
by your fellow Pipers.
Thank you.

Theme: HERO CENTRAL
Dates: August 7 – 11
Time: 5:00 – 7:15 PM
Place: Hope United Methodist
This year Fourth Avenue UMC and Hope UMC are sponsoring Hero Central to-
gether. Parents, mark your calendars for these dates! We would like students to
be preregistered. Look for more information to come.
Each member, parent and/or child can be a hero! We need not only students,
leaders, and helpers, but we need YOU as a prayer partner.
During VBS, can you help us one or more evenings? We need Bible story-
tellers, guides, leaders for science, crafts, music, recreation, and missions. No
United Methodist gathering is complete without food. Since we plan to start the
evening with a light meal, kitchen help is also needed.
For more information or to volunteer please

You can be God’s
hero, too!

We are so deeply touched by your generous dona-
tion to Supply Our Children. The gift will directly im-
pact over 1,200 youth in Faribault, their families, and
our schools. It means so much to the success of the
community and the futures of our students. We are
so very lucky to have caring community members
like your congregation in Faribault. Your dedication
to youth and those in need is admirable. With much
thanks, Martha and the Supply Our Children Team.
Congratulations to Keith Stoos and Linda Hellevik as they tied the
knot on May 7th, uniting their lives together before God.
Thank You
Dear Fourth Avenue UMC,

M and M Circle will be meeting in the church Parlor, Thursday June 8th at 1:00 PM. All interested members are invited to hear our Methodist friend, Nickolas Sonpon, speak and answer our questions about Liberia and his family's immigration to the United States. Carolyn Minshall will be the hostess.
May 11th, a group of UMW women got together to cut out 120 school bags for the Midwest Mission Distribution Center. We have about one third of the bolt left. On Wednesday, June 21 at 9:30 we will gather in the Fellowship Hall to finish cutting the material. Please bring good cutting scissors.
Special thanks to Dorothy Orde who helped organize our session & to every-one else who helped with the first cutting. Bag kits to be sewn are in the coat room across from the upstairs parlor. They are in bags of 10 with directions included. Return them to the coat room when finished. This is an all church project and any women who sews is welcome to help. ***Note: WE ARE IN NEED OF COTTON FABRIC FOR THE POCKETS. Please call Carolyn at 332 8683 if you have material scraps.
July 13, 2:30 PM is the pie party to be held at Pleasant View Estates.
August 10th M & M Circle meets at the church 4:30 PM for a pot luck. Liz Hartman will present a program on Israel/Palestine; where she visited last year.
Mission U in St. Cloud, MN July 14-16th. Cindy Saufferer from Blooming Grove United Methodist will be one of the instructors. Pastor Sharon Nelson is the interim minister at Cindy's church.
UMW Supports this Amendment: All Interested UMW women and UM members: There will be a pro-posed amendment to the United Methodist Church Constitution at the general conference! It states:
“In the United Methodist Church, no conference or other organizational unit of the Church shall be struc-tured so as to exclude any member or constituent body of the Church because of race, color, national origin, ABILITY or economic condition, nor shall any member be denied access to an equal place in the life, worship, and governance of the Church because of race, color, GENDER, national origin, ABILITY, AGE, MARITAL STATUS, or economic condition.” (words in capital letters to be added). These amending words are supported by the United Methodist Women, the Commission on the Status and Role of Women (COSROW), the General Commission on Discipleship and the DisAbility Ministries Commit-tee of the UMC.
The 2016 General Conference approved the additions and now, because it's the UMC Constitution we're talking about, the additional wording will need to be approved by 2/3 of the voting delegate members of the annual conferences throughout the world. No amendments will be allowed.
*** Fourth Ave United Methodist Women had a very nice memorial gift from Lois Headline,
Irene Eiler's sister. Irene gave a nice tribute to her sister who lived her life to the fullest and volunteered
many hours in Rochester at the Mayo Clinic. Thank you to the Headline family.
