Our newly ordained Fr. Michal and Fr. Andrew were thrilled by the huge representation of St. Rose parishioners who came to support them on their big day. Both men have worked long and hard to prepare to be good and holy priests. As their mentor, I am proud and confident that they will serve the Lord well all the days of their lives. Let us however surround them with our prayers as they shepherd the many in our diocese. Fr. Andrew has been appointed temporarily to assist at St. Anthony's Parish in Hawthorne. In August he will visit his family and friends in Ohio and Florida to celebrate his First Mass with them. He returns to Rome in late September to complete his Licentiate with a specialization in Sacred Scripture. Fr. Michal returned to Poland on Friday evening with his family and priest friends. He will celebrate his First Mass in his home parish on July 16th. Bishop Serratelli will have given each of the newly ordained, except the men returning to Rome, their appointments this past Thursday. As I write this on Monday, July 3rd, we excitedly await his assignment. Fr. Andrew's First Mass last Sunday at 10am was a grace filled moment, especially as his dad Peter, a permanent Deacon, assisted him. There was not a dry eye in the Church, as his mother Charlotte presented flowers to our Blessed Mother after Holy Communion. Fr. Michal's First Mass last Sunday at 12 noon was holy and joyful. Many of the parish whom he had ministered to, our Knights, our Rosarians, our Catechesis, and our Antioch team supported him by their presence. With profound emotion Fr. Michal's parents, Lillianna and Christopher, with his adopted American parents, Gerry and Fred, presented the gifts of bread and wine to their son for the sacrifice of the Holy Mass. A big thank you to everyone who worked so hard on preparing both First Mass's. A thank you to my Vicar, Fr. Matthew, Rev. Mr. Kamil, Deacon Vin, Alex, the altar servers, readers, and seminarians. A big thank you to those who gave so much of their musical talent, especially Jeanne Marie, Diego, our psalmist Nicole, the Choir, and our violinist Michael. The Church could not have been as gorgeous if it wasn't for the help of so many who take care of it, but I want to especially thank Helga, Ellen, and the "Let it Shine ministry." Our parish indeed is a place of great hospitality, but also a place where people appreciate good food, and this was reflected in the scrumptious lunch provided by you who volunteered to keep us well fed as many waited to receive their first blessings from the newly ordained. Thanks to Anna from Sorrento's for donating the two gorgeous cakes, a big thank you to Jeanne Taylor who coordinated the lunch and to the Rosarians and Knights who worked so hard. Thanks also to our custodian Angelo for his hard work and attention to every detail these past busy days. Finally thanks to my hard working and dedicated staff for all the little and big things to help make everything so perfect. Fr. Owen

Fourteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time July 9 2017

The Lord is generous and kind! We in the Diocese of Paterson are blessed by the many

vocations that give us priests for the future. The ordination of 11 diocesan priests and 2

Benedictine priests, last Saturday was joyful, holy, and deeply moving. Our beautiful cathedral

was packed to the rafters with many people who love and support our priests and parishes. The

liturgy lasted a little over two hours and through the grace of God and the imposition of hands by

our Bishop, thirteen young men have already begun to serve as priests at the Altar of the Lord.

Our newly ordained Fr. Michal and Fr. Andrew were thrilled by the huge representation of St. Rose

parishioners who came to support them on their big day. Both men have worked long and hard to prepare to be good

and holy priests. As their mentor, I am proud and confident that they will serve the Lord well all the days of their

lives. Let us however surround them with our prayers as they shepherd the many in our diocese.

Fr. Andrew has been appointed temporarily to assist at St. Anthony's Parish in Hawthorne. In August he will

visit his family and friends in Ohio and Florida to celebrate his First Mass with them. He returns to Rome in late

September to complete his Licentiate with a specialization in Sacred Scripture.

Fr. Michal returned to Poland on Friday evening with his family and priest friends. He will celebrate his

First Mass in his home parish on July 16th. Bishop Serratelli will have given each of the newly ordained, except the

men returning to Rome, their appointments this past Thursday. As I write this on Monday, July 3rd, we excitedly

await his assignment.

Fr. Andrew's First Mass last Sunday at 10am was a grace filled moment, especially as his dad Peter, a

permanent Deacon, assisted him. There was not a dry eye in the Church, as his mother Charlotte presented flowers

to our Blessed Mother after Holy Communion.

Fr. Michal's First Mass last Sunday at 12 noon was holy and joyful. Many of the parish whom he had

ministered to, our Knights, our Rosarians, our Catechesis, and our Antioch team supported him by their presence.

With profound emotion Fr. Michal's parents, Lillianna and Christopher, with his adopted American parents, Gerry

and Fred, presented the gifts of bread and wine to their son for the sacrifice of the Holy Mass.

A big thank you to everyone who worked so hard on preparing both First Mass's. A thank you to my Vicar,

Fr. Matthew, Rev. Mr. Kamil, Deacon Vin, Alex, the altar servers, readers, and seminarians. A big thank you to

those who gave so much of their musical talent, especially Jeanne Marie, Diego, our psalmist Nicole, the Choir, and

our violinist Michael. The Church could not have been as gorgeous if it wasn't for the help of so many who take care

of it, but I want to especially thank Helga, Ellen, and the "Let it Shine ministry."

Our parish indeed is a place of great hospitality, but also a place where people appreciate good food, and this

was reflected in the scrumptious lunch provided by you who volunteered to keep us well fed as many waited to

receive their first blessings from the newly ordained. Thanks to Anna from Sorrento's for donating the two gorgeous

cakes, a big thank you to Jeanne Taylor who coordinated the lunch and to the Rosarians and Knights who worked so

hard. Thanks also to our custodian Angelo for his hard work and attention to every detail these past busy days.

Finally thanks to my hard working and dedicated staff for all the little and big things to help make everything so

perfect.

Prayer for Priests

Gracious and loving God, we thank you for the gift of our priests.

Through them, we experience your presence in the sacraments.

Help our priests to be strong in their vocation. Set their souls on fire

with love for your people.

Grant them the wisdom, understanding and strength they need to

follow in the footsteps of Jesus. Inspire them with the vision of your

Kingdom.

Give them the words they need to spread the Gospel. Allow them to

experience joy in their ministry.

Help them to become instruments of your diving grace.

We ask this through Jesus Christ, who live and reigns as our Eternal

Priest. Amen

SACRAMENTS Baptism

We celebrate the sacrament of Baptism most Sundays. Parents are welcome to have the Baptism celebrated either at a week-end Mass or at the Liturgy of Baptism at 1:15. To make arrangements for Baptism please call Father Owen or Fr. Matthew. Godparents must be confirmed and be active members of the church and attend Mass regularly.

Sacrament of Reconciliation July and August at 4:45 – 5:15PM (or by appointment with Fr. Owen or Fr. Matthew).

Sacrament of Marriage Please contact Fr. Owen or Fr. Matthew and set up an appointment. Any Catholic couple needs approximately a year to prepare for the Sacrament of Marriage, which includes sessions with the Priest celebrating the marriage and attendance at Pre-Cana conferences.

Sacrament of the Sick / Hospital Visits At St. Rose we are strongly committed to the spiritual care of the sick. Because of privacy laws, hospitals and nursing homes are not allowed to release the patient’s religious affiliation. Therefore, we must depend on families of our sick parishioners to inform us of their whereabouts and condition. Please notify the parish office of any need for a home or hospital visit.

RCIA The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is a program for people who seek full initiation in the Catholic Church through the reception of the Sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation, which are received at Easter Vigil. For information, please contact Fr. Owen or Fr. Matthew at the parish office.
