Q. What are some of your goals and plans this year as the new Chamber Chairperson?• Within 2 years, have a budget that can sustain the equivalency of 2 full time Chamber staff members (hours) with ability to strengthen all aspects of the Chamber & a focus on quality not quantity.• Support & assist Board members in their personal development (as board reps) and create individual goals that fuse & support the overall Board/Chamber vision/goals. • Create and initiate a “Diversity Task Force” to identify ways of furthering community cooperation in business (enhance growth & interactive busi-ness cooperation).• Enhance perceived Chamber value with expansion of education/training (through use of effective speakers).

www.backyardgolf.usWe offer premium synthetic lawn and putting greens for your home or commercial areas. We’ll work with you to develop a unique design for your personal putting green. We do this by turning undesired and unused areas into beautiful showpieces, while providing hours of family entertainment.
Q. How will you add value and get things done in your new role?Through my goals and trying to recruit additional leadership. I have been connected to this Chamber since 1997 but admit to “stepping away” due to lack of perceived leadership and value. It’s exciting to have returned 3 years ago and share in all this progress; the fun is back too.
Q. What’s one of the most important business lessons you’ve learned?Strive to always be proactive (whenever possible)! Trying to always stay a step or 2 ahead can prevent so many problems & keep customers etc. happy, and it helps manage stress levels. Over at Elwyn we have a motto about having plans A, B AND C …. but whatever it takes.
Q. What’s one emerging business trend that intrigues you?Although no longer emerging, I will go with technology, as something new is always emerging/changing. Figuring out how to best use the options, when, where and how is so key in our changing global world. The simplest of things are no longer just “plug-in and go.” Being somewhat of an efficiency nut, I embrace technology despite the frustrations.
Q. Do you have a favorite quote? That is a tough one. I have long been a quote fan & in writing newsletters the past 22 years, I used a lot of quotes. Due to recent focus on Chamber leadership, I will go with one I just shared with the Board – “individually, we are one drop. Together, we are an ocean (Emma)” That applies to the entire Chamber membership too!

Fountain Valley CrossingsThe City of Fountain Valley has launched an online survey designed to gain public input into the development of the Fountain Valley Crossings Specific Plan. This online survey is the first of many opportunities that the residents, property owners, businesses, and real estate professionals of the City will have to voice their desires. To take the survey, please visit our webpage at www.fountainvalley.org/fountainvalleycrossings, or Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/fountainvalleycrossings, our Twitter page @fvcrossings, or the Fountain Valley Crossings community on Google+.
The Fountain Valley Crossings Specific Plan project is being conducted by the City in an effort to provide a new vision for the light industrial district of the City bordered by Talbert Avenue on the north, Ellis Avenue on the south, Ward Street on the west and the Santa Ana River on the east. When completed the Fountain Valley Crossings Specific Plan will include revised land use designations, zoning standards, a capital improvement program, and policies designed to incentivize and attract new development to the area.
