Founders/Martyrs Wiki Project

Discovering the relevance of the Marianist Founders/Martyrs:

Gather useful information from required authors and other sources to present a Wiki of your founder or martyr(s) that show(s) her/his/their commitment to the vow of stability, and how we as lay Marianists today still learn from her/his/their example. Present the information in a compelling and creative way.

Questions to consider for your final project: How can you best create a wiki, so your viewers will be persuaded of your founder’s/martyr(s)’ true

commitment to the vow of stability, and how they modeled for lay Marianists today, through words and deeds, that they kept that covenant between themselves and God throughout life.

How will it creatively speak to your audience (teens in English-speaking countries)

Can 21st century lay Marianists keep the vow of stability?

ASSIGNMENT: In groups, choose a Marianist founder or martyr(s). All chosen founders or martyr(s) must be

approved before the start of your research. Research your group’s chosen founder or martyr(s) using the given authors on the BBoard link as

well as other sources. Your research should be able to answer the following questions:o How does s/he they keep the vow of stability throughout her/his life or their lives. o What did s/he or they say that showed a full commitment to Mary’s mission o How did s/he or they, like Mary, “birth” Jesus in each generation o What actions did s/he or they take to keep true to the vow of stability o How was s/he or they viewed by peers and others in society

Develop a wiki that successfully proves and conveys your founder’s or martyr(s)’ life story and commitment to the vow of stability. The wiki should provide interesting ways to present the material to the class using current technology and social media tools. The wiki must be visually engaging. See the Wiki Rubric.

to demonstrate the use of technology as a necessary tool for your presentation by creating a wiki that will engage and compel your target audience (teens in English-speaking countries);

to generate and collaborate ideas with your peers in order to successfully develop and support an organized wiki and compelling presentation;

Grade Breakdown: 100 Points Total. See Rubrics.

Wiki Content and Presentation: 100 Points Extra Credit of up to 10 points if the North American Center for Marianist Studies deems your

Wiki eligible for publication on the NACMS or other Marianist sites. I will send the best Wikis from blocks E & G for consideration. Each person in the group can apply the extra credit points toward any individual assignment (except Final Exam) to add to that assignment’s base score. IE, you got a 75/100 for a test and want to add the 6 extra credit points you earned to that grade. Your final score for that test would be 81/100. Homework assignments and other projects also are eligible.
