LN SUPPORT PROGRAM (LN SUPPORT)

At Box Hill Institute and CAE we offer you additional support, within your vocational course, to develop skills for your vocational studies and the workplace.

This program is available to all eligible Box Hill and CAE students enrolled in a vocational course. The appropriate units will be based on the Core Skills Diagnostic Test results. The program focuses on workplace reading and writing, numeracy, communication, digital technologies and learning skills.

Our Literacy and Numeracy Support (LN Support) teachers can assist you with such things as mathematical formulas and calculations, resume writing and interview techniques, understanding course-related terminology, research and essay writing. This assistance may be provided in a variety of ways, such as co-teaching with vocational teachers, online activities and group tutorials.

To access this assistance you will be enrolled in appropriate units from the LN Support program.

On successful completion of these units you will receive a Box Hill Institute Statement of Attainment in addition to that of your vocational course.

In undertaking this nationally accredited course you would be utilising your second government subsidised place for this year.

OUTCOMESOn completion of the LN Support program you will:

> have increased your knowledge and understanding of vocational language and workplace requirements.

> be able to apply your reading, writing, numeracy, digital and problem solving skills to the workplace.

iVCAL (STUDY VCAL ONLINE)*

With iVCAL you can study all of the three VCAL levels — Foundation, Intermediate and Senior — online. This self-paced course can be tailored to suit your learning needs. Plus, you can access iVCAL from any location, 24/7 at any time you choose.

Learning outcomes VCAL educational core units and vocational units will vary per person depending on the VCAL level and vocational options chosen.

Stage One involves completing the educational units - literacy, numeracy, personal development and work related skills - online. Some students elect to continue with Stage One units at a higher VCAL level before commencing Stage Two.

Stage Two involves choosing a vocational qualification which may be delivered in the traditional face-to-face classroom environment or online or a combination of both. The list of vocational options is extensive and chosen to suit your requirements.

The Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) provides an alternative option to VCE for students in Years 11 and 12.

VCAL, like VCE, is an accredited senior secondary school certificate recognised nationally and provides pathways to further study and work. TAFE VCAL is an applied, full time educational program delivered in a training environment. Industry-based studies are key parts of each of the Box Hill Institute VCAL courses on offer.

They provide practical workplace-based learning in trade or industry areas. All the courses include studies in literacy, numeracy and personal development and work related skills relevant to work and life and Box Hill Institute students now have the opportunity to study VCAL through the traditional face-to-face classes or online.

VICTORIAN CERTIFICATE OF EDUCATION (VCE)

Explore your options for the future by completing VCE at CAE. The VCE is an accredited secondary certificate that recognises the successful completion of your secondary education. It is recognised internationally and provides a pathway to further education and training, and to the world of work. CAE provides the opportunity to study your VCE on a part time or full time basis, with a wide range of subjects offered during the day and also at night.

Studying VCE at Box Hill and City campuses allows you to complete your VCE in the time that suits you, with both day and night classes available. This will help you find a balance between study and your other commitments.

You will learn in a supportive adult environment where you will take responsibility for your own learning. We have no class bells, uniform, or supervision outside of class.

You should enrol to study with us if:

> you want to return after a break from study

> you are seeking an alternative learning environment to Secondary School

> you want to enrol in single VCE subjects not offered at your secondary school

> you have completed VCE and want to improve your ATAR by taking additional subjects

> you are an adult wanting to study a VCE subject for personal interest.

You will receive a widely accepted qualification and be eligible for entry into a wide range of TAFE or university courses. You will study English as well as a minimum of four other subjects in arts, science, maths, business, law, social sciences and information technology each year. RECONNECT

Engagement and Learning Support (REALS) is part of the Victorian Government’s Back to Work scheme and funds the provision of a range of supports for early school leavers to sustain their engagement with learning and work. Box Hill Institute (BHI) has been funded from the 1st July 2016 to support 160 young people over the next two years across the Local Government Areas of Melbourne, Whitehorse and Yarra Ranges as part of the REALS Grants Program.
