Bronco Bookstore Blurbs...
Bronco Bookstore and Semester Conversion!
Fall and Summer Deadlines Switch from Sidewalk Hero to Verba Collect
Like the rest of campus, the Bronco Bookstore is making plans for the change to the semester academic calendar in August. While this change will impact several aspects of bookstore operations, the biggest change will be that there will now be two major rushes in August and January.
Long before the first-semester rush, the semester conversion will impact the timeline for faculty textbook selection and ordering. Instead of needing fall course materials adoptions in May, the new due date for fall adoptions will be in April. The Bronco Bookstore staff are already working closely with academic department contacts and faculty to make them aware of this earlier due date.
Due to semester conversion, fall course materials adoptions will be due on Friday, April 20 and summer adoptions will now be due on Friday, April 6.
Please note that the Bronco Bookstore no longer utilizes the Sidewalk Hero course materials platform. Instead, the bookstore has switched to Verba Collect for all adoption ordering needs.
Please contact Stacie Shellner at x3751 if you need any assistance with accessing Verba Collect.
Save the Date: Grad Fair
The 2018 Grad Fair will be held at the Bronco Bookstore Atrium on April 17 & 18 from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. inside the Bronco Bookstore and Bookstore Atrium. Vendors from Jostens, Graduation Day Flowers and other campus partners will be there to provide all information needed for our CPP graduates big day in June!

At the recent graduation ceremony on Thursday, March 15, international students at Cal Poly English Language Institute (CPELI) were recognized for completing a rigorous 10-week intensive English program. The ceremonyconcluded, as it does every quarter, with a short poignant slideshow of students and staff engaging in language and cultural activities. The slideshow highlighted the many multicultural activities that enrich the student experience at CPELI. Finally, all participants were treated to a Italian meal of pasta, Ceasar salad, chicken and grilled vegetables.
We at CPELI are proud of our students’ achievements and success!

Bronco Bookstore’s ‘Instant Access @ CPP’ Pilot Saves Students More than $177K YTD What is Instant Access?
Instant Access is a growing model for course materials that address both access and affordability.
In this model: All students enrolled in a course have access to required course materials in a digital format on or before the first day of class.
Student accounts are billed for the course materials at the same time as other registration costs.
Students may opt out of the materials within the first two weeks of class and get the cost refunded.
So far, mechanical engineering has been the first to be a part of this new exciting model. This is in thanks to department chair Angela Shih. Dr. Shih actively championed the use of digital content to reduce textbook costs and improve student learning for years.
This model eliminates barriers to learning caused by delayed access to course materials or students trying to get by without purchasing books at all. With the success of the Instant Access program, it is likely that it will be adopted by other departments in the future.
