Dear Robert,

I chose to write my genre analysis paper on formal lab reports because I’ve had to write

many of them in the past and there are many more to be written in the future based on my

major. Since I have had to write many, I know what makes a lab report; therefore, it was not

very hard to write about. Prior to writing the paper, looking at the various genres to write about

made me realize that there are many, many different genres that I did not realize were. I would

have never guessed that a lab report was a genre or a resume for that matter. One issue that I

have with my paper is the length. I feel that it is too short, but lab reports are what they are and

do not vary too much.
